The No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels (2-1) and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (4-0) meet Saturday morning at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 a.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the North Carolina vs. Hawaii odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Tar Heels suffered a 92-89 loss against fellow blue blood Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse Nov. 8, although North Carolina was able to cover as an 8-point underdog as the Over (160) cashed. UNC has covered in consecutive games after throttling American 107-55 at Smith Center, with the total going high in 3 straight outings.

The Rainbow Warriors have fired out to a 4-0 start. They’ve won against San Jose State, Pacific and Weber State in overtime, as well as a win over a lower-level college Life Pacific. The Warriors are 2-1 against the spread (ATS), while the Over is 2-1 in those games, too.

North Carolina at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

North Carolina 91, Hawaii 72

Moneyline

You can’t risk 20 times your potential return to back the ranked North Carolina (-2000) side. That’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

On the flip side, while Hawaii (+1000) is unbeaten, it has played nobody of note. It could easily have lost to Weber State last time out, escaping in OT. Oddly enough, Weber State has a history with North Carolina. Google Harold Arceneaux and 1999.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

Back NORTH CAROLINA -16.5 (-105) lightly in this trip to the islands. The Tar Heels can roll up big-time offensive numbers, going for 89 or more points in all 3 games to date. The Tar Heels are a very good free-throw shooting team, too, as they don’t leave a lot of points on the board. However, its defense has been a bit of an issue.

However, Hawaii +16.5 (-115) allows teams to shoot 41.1% from the field and 30.2% from behind the 3-point line. That’s good news for UNC to roll up plenty of offense.

Over/Under

OVER 151.5 (-105) may be the best play on the board.

The total has cashed high in 2 of 3 games for Hawaii, as it has scored at least 73 points in each game against Division I teams, while allowing 66 or more points in all of those outings.

For UNC, it is good for 89 or more points in 3 outings. It has allowed 76 or more points in 2 of 3 contests, while the Over has hit in all 3 outings.

Hawaii at Washington State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Washington State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-4) meet the Washington State Cougars (5-1) Saturday at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Wash. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (The CW Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Hawaii vs. Washington State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Rainbow Warriors step out of conference to face the Cougars. It’s the 3rd trip of the season to the mainland for Hawaii. It suffered a 31-13 loss at Sam Houston Sept. 14 as a 3.5-point underdog as the Under (48) cashed. It also fell 27-24 at San Diego State as a 1-point ‘dog Oct. 5 as the Over (48) hit for the only time in 6 tries this season.

The Cougars picked up a 25-17 win at Fresno State as a 3.5-point favorite as the Under (60.5) hit, bouncing back from a 45-24 loss at Boise State Sept. 28 in the previous outing. Washington State is 4-2 against the spread (ATS) this season while splitting the Over/Under 3-3.

Hawaii at Washington State picks and predictions

Prediction

Washington State 38, Hawaii 24

Moneyline

Washington State (-1100) will cost you 11 times your potential return, and that’s way too risky for not nearly enough reward. The Cougars and QB John Mateer are a gifted offense, and Hawaii (+700) struggles on trips to the mainland, but that’s just too expensive.

PASS.

Against the spread

Back HAWAII +18.5 (-105) catching the points, as it should be able to keep this to a 2-score game.

The Rainbow Warriors have an adequate passing offense, led by QB Brayden Schager. He has completed 60.2% of his pass attempts for 1,592 yards, 12 TDs and 6 INTs through 6 games. He has a top-tier receiver in WR Pofele Ashlock; they’ve hooked up 43 times for 470 yards and 4 TDs.

Washington State -18.5 (-115) has a powerful offense, too, as Mateer is a solid dual-threat option. But, the Wazzu defense has been horrific, allowing 446.8 total yards, 280.3 passing yards and 29.8 points per game, all among the worst marks in the nation.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-110) is worth a look due to Washington State’s struggles on defense.

Hawaii can sling it, but the Under has connected in 5 of 6 games so far, mostly due to some decent efforts on defense early in the season. But the total went low against UCLA and 2 low-level FCS teams. The defense has allowed 27.5 PPG in the past 2 outings, though, as the quality of opponent has picked up. Expect to see Hawaii allow a season high in points here.

Boise State at Hawaii odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boise State at Hawaii odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The 22nd-ranked Boise State Broncos (4-1, 1-0 Mountain West) meet the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-3, 0-1) Saturday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff in the Mountain West Conference game is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Boise State vs. Hawaii odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Broncos head for the islands, and Heisman hopeful RB Ashton Jeanty looks to add to his impressive totals. Jeanty has rolled up 1,031 rushing yards, 10.9 yards per rushing attempt and 16 TDs in just 5 games so far.

Boise State has scored 34 or more in all 5 games, and it has managed 45 or more points in 4 of the outings. The Broncos are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past 4 games, while cashing the Over in all 5 outings.

The Rainbow Warriors suffered a 27-24 loss at San Diego State last Saturday, but it was a season high for offensive production against an FBS opponent. The Over (48) cashed for the 1st time in 5 games. Hawaii failed to cover as a 1-point ‘dog against the Aztecs, and it is just 2-3 ATS in 5 games, including 2-1 ATS at home.

Boise State at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

Boise State 45, Hawaii 27

Moneyline

Boise State (-1600) will set you back 16 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. There is never a reason to bet a favorite this high, whether as a standalone play or as part of a multi-leg parlay.

AVOID.

Against the spread

HAWAII +21 (-110) is worth playing with the points.

Boise State -21 (-110) should be avoided, as Jeanty might actually have a hard time against Hawaii for a while. He has shown, though, that even when bottled up, he has the potential to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. Backing Hawaii will have bettors holding their breath every time Boise is on offense.

Hawaii doesn’t have the horses to compete on the ground. However, it got the offense going against San Diego State, as QB Brayden Schager threw for 272 yards and 3 TDs. Boise State actually allows 278.8 passing yards per game, ranking 124th in FBS.

Over/Under

OVER 59.5 (-110) may be the best play in this battle in the islands.

Boise State has cashed high on the total in all 5 games to date. It dropped 62 points on Utah State last weekend, and it has 45 or more points in 4 games, and 56 or more points on 3 occasions.

While Hawaii has hit low in 4 of 5 games, it cashed the Over last time out at San Diego State. With Schager slinging it, and Boise State’s pass defense fairly leaky, we should see plenty of points in the final game of Saturday.

UCLA at Hawaii odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UCLA at Hawaii odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The UCLA Bruins (0-0) and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-0) meet Saturday at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS/Paramount+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UCLA vs. Hawaii odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bruins play their 1st game in a new era, as UCLA joins the Big Ten Conference this season. While this isn’t a conference game, obviously, it’s a historic day for the program nonetheless.

It’s also a new era with former Bruins tailback DeShaun Foster taking over as the coach. He has just 9 starters returning, but QB Ethan Garbers is one of them, along with RB T.J. Harden.

The last time UCLA was in action it was facing a Mountain West team, too, as the Bruins topped Boise State 35-22 in the LA Bowl Dec. 16, 2023. UCLA cashed the Under in 10 of 12 games in the regular season in 2023.

We already got a look at Hawaii in Week 0, as the Rainbow Warriors paddled FCS Delaware State 35-14 in the islands. Hawaii came nowhere near covering as a 40.5-point favorite as the Under (54) held on. QB Brayden Schager threw for 203 yards and 2 TDs while running for 2 more scores.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

UCLA at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 34, Hawaii 17

Moneyline

UCLA (-650) will set you back 6½ times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward. Even as part of a multi-leg parlay, including the Bruins is just way too expensive.

Even though Hawaii (+450) struggled with Del State last weekend, and it led just 21-14 heading into the final quarter despite being a 40.5-point favorite, nothing is for certain, and UCLA is way too expensive.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

Back UCLA -14 (-110) lightly, as Harden could have a solid afternoon in the islands. Hawaii +14 (-110) allowed Del State to run for 104 yards last week, totaling 11 first downs.

We obviously haven’t seen the Bruins play yet, but we did see the Rainbow Warriors, and they were not impressive at all despite an eventual 21-point win. If UCLA can manage to contain the dual-threat Schager, this one could get away from Hawaii in a hurry.

Over/Under

The UNDER 53.5 (-115) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The total went low in Hawaii’s opener, and the Under cashed in the most recent meeting Aug. 28, 2021, in Pasadena, a 44-10 win by UCLA with a total of 67.

And, as mentioned, UCLA hit the Under in 10 of 12 regular-season games in 2023, while it went 6-1 in the previous 7 outings on the road.

Hawaii at Oregon odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Oregon odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-2) visit the No. 13 Oregon Ducks (2-0) on Saturday. Kick from Autzen Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Hawaii vs. Oregon odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Hawaii finally got in the win column with a 31-20 victory over Albany last Saturday as a 7.5-point favorite. QB Brayden Schager threw 4 touchdowns but also had 3 interceptions along with a 57.5% completion rate. WRs Pofele Ashlock and Steven McBride both had standout performances with Ashlock having 4 receptions for 74 yards and McBride hauling in 7 receptions for 72 yards and 2 TDs.

Oregon took down Texas Tech 38-30 last Saturday as a 4.5-point favorite. QB Bo Nix threw for 359 yards and 2 TDs while also rushing the ball 9 times for 46 yards in the victory. The Ducks entered the 4th quarter down 27-18 but put up a whopping 20 points to rally for the win.

Oregon is No. 13 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Hawaii at Oregon picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon 51, Hawaii 17

Moneyline

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publication but would not be worth pursuing even if it were available.

Against the spread

BET HAWAII +38.5 (-115).

While Oregon’s offense has showcased flashes of brilliance, like scoring 81 points in its first game and having a 20-point quarter to close out last week, Hawaii has shown it is more than capable of finding the end zone as well.

The Rainbow Warriors have scored at least 20 points in each of their first 3 games and if they are able to put the ball in the end zone even twice, they will have a great chance to cover this huge line.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 68.5 (-105).

Whether the Over or Under hits will be largely dependent on which Ducks offense comes out of the tunnel. If it is the Week 1 offense that put up 81 points and was firing on all cylinders, this game could get out of hand quickly and cash the Over quickly. However, Hawaii could prove to be more of a challenge to Oregon, like Texas Tech was last week, meaning a tougher defensive battle and an Under payday.

Stanford at Hawaii odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Stanford at Hawaii odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Stanford Cardinal (0-0) open their season in the islands against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (0-1) Friday at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stanford at Hawaii odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Cardinal open the post-David Shaw era in paradise, taking on the Rainbow Warriors. Coach Troy Taylor takes over at Stanford after having plenty of success (30-8) at FCS Sacramento State. While Stanford has just 5 starters returning, the cupboard isn’t totally bare with RB E.J. Smith and TE Benjamin Yurosek to provide a steadying veteran presence.

The Rainbow Warriors played in Week 0 last Saturday, falling 35-28 on the road against the Vanderbilt Commodores in an entertaining game. Hawaii easily covered the 17-point number, and the Over (55) comfortably cashed as well.

Hawaii posted 351 passing yards, but it was mostly bottled up in the run game with 40 yards on 25 carries. The Rainbow Warriors defense did a good job limiting Vandy to just 39 rushing yards on 26 attempts. QB Brayden Schager was solid, completing 27-of-35 passes for 351 yards, 3 TD and 2 INT.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Stanford at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

Stanford 32, Hawaii 29

Moneyline

There are a lot of unknowns with STANFORD (-165), especially under center. Taylor has not yet announced whether QBs Ashton Daniels, Justin Lamson or Ari Patu will start. It could be a combination of 2, or even all 3.

What is known is that Smith is a very good downhill runner, and while Hawaii (+140) thwarted Vandy’s run game last week, it will have its hands full with Smith. And Yurosek is one of the better tight ends in the nation, while Stanford also employs one of the top kickers in the country in Joshua Karty.

The Cardinal have more difference makers, and enough to get it done in Taylor’s debut.

Against the spread

HAWAII +3.5 (-110) has the passing game to hang in there, as Schager can really sling it. And the Rainbow Warriors will try to take advantage of a retooled Cardinal defense. The Warriors fought hard on the mainland in a narrow loss at Vandy, covering, and while I think the Cardinal get it done, the Warriors should get the backdoor cover on Saturday.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-110) is the lean, as Hawaii showed tremendous ability to being able to move the ball last week through the air.

On the flip side, Hawaii didn’t show a lot of resistance against the pass, and whomever emerges under center for Stanford should be able to move the ball up and down the field.

UC Riverside at Hawaii picks and predictions

Hawaii 70, UC Riverside 67

Moneyline

The money line was Off the Board (OTB) at the time of publishing, but Hawaii wouldn’t be worth pursuing anyway in what should be a close conference contest.

AVOID.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

UC RIVERSIDE +3.5 (-110) is the lean, but play it ever so slightly.

The Highlanders are a solid 4-1 ATS in the past 5 games overall, while cashing in 6 of the previous 8 outings against teams with a winning overall record.

The Rainbow Warriors have failed to cover in the past 5 home games, while going 1-7 ATS in the past 8 after a straight-up win, and 1-6 ATS in the past 78 following a cover. Hawaii is also a dismal 2-6 ATS in the past 8 against winning teams.

Over/Under

OVER 131.5 (-105) might be the best play in this Big West battle.

The Over is 26-10 in the past 36 games overall for Riverside, while cashing in 4 of the past 5 outings on the road.

The Over is 4-1 in the past 5 games for Hawaii against teams with an overall winning percentage of .600 or more.

UCSB has won 3-consecutive games straight up and against the spread, and the Gauchos are 12-5 ATS overall. The Big West’s 1st-place team has allowed just 110 points over its last 2 games combined. Santa Barbara’s defensive scoring average is 61.8 points per game; only Hawaii (61.2 PPG) has been better in the Big West.

Hawaii split a pair of games with the Gauchos last season, but the Rainbow Warriors are just 1-4 across their last 5 games against UCSB. That stretch includes a pair of losses in Honolulu. At home this season, UH is 10-2; among the 10 wins is a victory over KenPom top-75 Washington State (62-51) Dec. 23.

UC Santa Barbara at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

UC Santa Barbara 66, Hawaii 64

Moneyline

Cal-Santa Barbara is playing solid basketball of late. The Gauchos do a good job in generating a lot of quality looks in close, and they have their offense humming along nicely in recent games.

UCSB has a veteran core that has made the voyage to UH before. Give the Gauchos an edge in the turnover battle and a legit chance to take this one outright.

TAKE UC SANTA BARBARA -105.

Against the spread

PASS … and avoid the extra dose of juice for the 1 point of cushion.

Over/Under

Both teams play at bottom-third tempos, but there is some zag lean here. Their schedules — while not top shelf by any means — have both tilted toward better defensive teams so far.

UCSB has some offensive numbers on the upswing, and the game figures to have enough transition and foul-line points to tilt the scale toward a loftier score.

Consider a partial-unit play on the OVER 127.5 (-110).

SMU at Hawaii odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s SMU at Hawaii odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The SMU Mustangs (5-7) and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (8-3) meet in the Diamond Head Classic title game Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the SMU at Hawaii odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

SMU, as a 12-point underdog to Utah State, beat the Aggies 77-74 Friday. The Mustangs average only 69.2 points per game (254th in the nation). They really count on their defense, which they’ll need with the Warriors having the home-court advantage.

Hawaii won 62-51 as a 2.5-point underdog against Washington State to get here. Hawaii does not have a potent offense, scoring just 69.8 PPG to rank 238th in nation. But it does boast the nation’s No. 22 defense, allowing 60.5 PPG.

SMU at Hawaii picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 66, SMU 61

Moneyline

PASS.

Hawaii (-220) should win this game, but the price is not worth the risk.

Against the spread

BET HAWAII -4.5 (-115).

While the offense of Hawaii is not great, neither is SMU’s offense. The defense of Hawaii is where the difference will be in this game. The Rainbow Warriors allow only 60.5 PPG. This will allow them to hold down the Mustangs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 134.5 (-105).

Hawaii’s highly-ranked defense will hold SMU down enough to keep this game Under. Even in its victory over Washington State, Hawaii only managed 62 points. This game will be played in the 60’s and the number should hit. I do not see this game getting out of hand in any manner, so I like the Under 134.5 (-105) as the play.

Hawaii at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at Colorado State Rams odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-5, 1-1 Mountain West) and Colorado State Rams (1-5, 1-1) lock horns Saturday. Kickoff at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Hawaii vs. Colorado State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Hawaii clocked a 31-16 over Nevada at home last Saturday. A Warriors team that ranks 12th in MWC scoring defense (37.0 points allowed per game) has only allowed a combined 32 points over the last 2 weeks. UH held the Wolfpack to just 277 total yards and a 3-of-13 performance on 3rd downs.

The Rams lost 17-13 to Utah State last Saturday. The Aggies controlled the game with 252 rushing yards and held Colorado State to a 2-of-15 mark on 3rd downs. CSU has converted 3rd downs at a paltry 16.9% rate for the season; that ranks 131st and last in FBS.

Hawaii at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 28, Colorado State 24

Moneyline

This play is muddied by too much juice: PASS.

Against the spread

CSU QB Clay Millen is questionable with a shoulder problem. The Rams have played close games the last 2 weeks against Utah State and Nevada, but in those games, the Aggies and Wolfpack were statistically superior. Peg Colorado State as being closer to the team that was outscored 164-43 over its first 4 games.

When UH has the football against a weak Rams’ run defense we can expect senior RB Dedrick Parson to pick up where he left off last week. Parson rushed for 136 yards last week and has tallied multiple touchdowns in 3 of the Warriors’ last 4 games.

In a game that figures as a near pick ’em, TAKE HAWAII +5.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Over has hit in 6 straight UH-CSU meetings. With the offenses both sides bring in, the total sits much lower than in recent meetings (53.5 last year, for example).

However, this is a case of something’s-gotta-give for 2 teams that have been undone in turnovers (both are minus-4 on the season) and unsuccessful in red-zone play at both ends.

Look for the offenses to be a bit tilted into throw mode and for a total in the low 50s. BET THE OVER 46.5 (-112).
