Southern Miss (44-18, 22-8 Sun Belt) is hosting Tennessee (41-19, 16-14 SEC), Saturday-Monday, in an NCAA Tournament super regional at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The Vols and Golden Eagles are in a weather delay after game No. 1 was halted in the fifth inning. Southern Miss leads the Vols, 4-0.

Southern Miss issued a weather delay update at 8:53 p.m. EDT.

“We have an update,” Southern Miss announced on Twitter. “We are in wait-and-see mode. We should have an update shortly after 9 p.m. (CDT) to see about our restart time. That is all we have at this time.”

The winner between Tennessee and Southern Miss in the best-of-three series will advance to the College World Series.

The Vols are making their third consecutive super regional appearance and fourth straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Tony Vitello. Tennessee advanced to the 2021 College World Series.

Tennessee (41-19, 16-14 SEC) and Southern Miss (44-18, 22-8 Sun Belt) will begin a best-of-three series in the NCAA Tournament Hattiesburg Super Regional on Saturday.

First pitch between the Vols and Golden Eagles is slated for 3 p.m. EDT on Saturday. ESPNU will televise the contest with Roy Philpott (PxP) and Todd Walker (analyst) on the call.

Tennessee won the Clemson Regional, while Southern Miss advanced by winning the Auburn Regional. Neither Tennessee nor Southern Miss are national seeds for the NCAA Tournament. They were No. 2 seeds in their respective regionals.

Ahead of game No. 1, Tennessee announced it will wear dark mode jerseys versus Southern Miss.
