Hamilton is coming to Disney+ a year early and people are overjoyed

The room where it happens is now your living room.

The musical about the ten-dollar founding father without a father is finally coming to the Disney+ streaming service.

Originally scheduled for October of 2021, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s cultural juggernaut Hamilton, the American history rap musical you didn’t know you needed until it ear wormed its way into your very conscious, will now be available for streaming on July 3 2020, just in time to celebrate the world turned upside down.

The reason we don’t have to wait for it anymore is that Disney+ and Miranda likely don’t want to throw away their shot at maximizing the audience for the musical.  The coronavirus pandemic has wrecked live theater, and across the country all future runs of the musical have been put on hold as people try to stay alive ’til this horror show is past.

It’s becoming more and more clear as we move through the pandemic that crowds won’t safely be allowed to gather in the greatest city in the world or any other place for that matter.  That means that revenue for Hamilton, like all musical theater, is drip, dripping down the drain. With no guarantee for significant additional revenue due from live performances anytime soon, it makes sense that musical about an another immigrant comin’ up from the bottom will be available for streaming early.

Fans, of course, are celebrating how lucky they are to be alive right now.

The original Broadway production of Hamilton streams July 3, 2020 at 9pm EST. It will surely blow us all away.

The ‘Hamilton’ cast had a delightful musical reunion on John Krasinski’s YouTube show

They’re all in the virtual room where it happens.

In times like these, moments of joy can prove to be scare and fleeting, which is why it’s important to grab onto as many of them as possible. In between bouts of bleak news and mounting stress, some bright little lights have emerged, and one of them is John Krasinski’s new YouTube show, Some Good News.

In only its second episode, Krasinski managed the incredible feat of reuniting the original cast of the Broadway hit ‘Hamilton’ to sing the opening number for a young superfan named Aubrey.  According to Krasinski, Aubrey was supposed to go see the show before the entire city of New York went into lockdown. To make up for the disappointment, she’d been watching Mary Poppins Returns (which also stars Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt) to get her Lin-Manuel Miranda fix. Krasinski promised her a better surprise and, one by one, had the OG Hamilton cast burst into song via Zoom video conference.

The surprise video bomb includes EVERYONE and it is a total, freaking joy to watch. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, and more all sang their original parts, leaving Aubrey and the rest of us musical theater aficionados bursting with joy.

What better way to get pumped up for spring football then to look at what’s coming in the pipeline for the Irish.

I’ve put together an eligibility chart (based not on year in school, but total eligibility remaining including committed high schoolers) and a PROJECTED depth chart for 2020-2022.

I need to reiterated: this is projected based on what I think it may look like.

Used the tabs at the bottom to scroll from sheet to sheet.

Bookmark this page and keep track of what the roster could look like for the Irish in 2020 and moving forward.

MATCHUP

No. 18 Southlake Carroll (Texas) (11-0)

vs.

DeSoto (Texas) (9-2)

When: 11/22, 6:30 p.m. ET

Tale of the Tape: DeSoto may have been beaten twice this year, but both of those losses were one-point games. This team is just a couple breaks away from being undefeated. Southlake Carroll, though, is undefeated; the closest game was a 12-point win, and last week, the Dragons won by 78 points. They have been unstoppable behind sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers and freshman running back Owen Allen. It will take a big performance from some DeSoto player to keep up: maybe cornerback Jabbar Muhammad or Devyn Bobby, or perhaps an offensive weapon like leading wide receiver Lawrence Arnold. More likely, it’ll take a big performance from several Eagles.
