Andy Reid reflects on his experience in Hallmark’s ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story’ | @EdEastonJr
The release of Hallmark’s ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story‘ was more than a movie as the film embraced everything Kansas City. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid appeared in front of the media on Monday for his weekly Zoom press conference to reflect on his experience in the holiday movie.
“(Laughs) I didn’t have a real big part in it, thank goodness, or the movie probably wouldn’t have been as good as it was, so that’s a good thing, but I enjoyed the people with Hallmark,“ said Reid. “They sure do a nice job with things, and it’s a local group here, so they’re Kansas City grown, and I appreciate their support.”
Reid had a brief cameo towards the film’s end, coaching the Chiefs in the big Christmas Day game. To support the film, he attended Hallmark’s red carpet special during the premiere in Kansas City.
“I think we have a unique relationship between the two organizations, which is something. I mean, Hallmark is one of those (businesses) we all grew up with. If you needed a Christmas card, you knew where to go.“ said Reid. “You go to Hallmark, and you knew you were in good hands there. Anyway – it was fun. It was fun forwhat I did there. They (Hallmark) made it painless.”
Andy Reid and his wife Tammy stunned on the red carpet at the premiere of ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story’ on Saturday.
The Kansas City Chiefs have the best record in the AFC after their Week 13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday.
Though the defending Super Bowl champions didn’t play their best football against Las Vegas, the team is riding high into its mini-bye week.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and his wife Tammy were spotted at the premiere of Hallmark’s Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs LoveStory on Saturday after Kansas City’s win.
The Reids dazzled on the red carpet in a photograph that made the rounds on social media after it was shared by the Chiefs’ official Twitter account:

Both Andy and Tammy are expected to have roles in the Chiefs-themed movie, which is expected to become a cult classic among fans in Kansas City this year.
Stay tuned to see if anything notable happens at the film’s premiere on Saturday night as the Chiefs get some rest ahead of their Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on December 8.
Stars of Hallmark’s ‘Holiday Touchdown: A #Chiefs Love Story’ reveal Kansas City’s influence on new movie w/ @EdEastonJr
This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to actors Hunter King and Tyler Hynes, who are the stars of a new Hallmark movie called ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.’
In their interview with Easton Jr., King and Hynes explained the romantic story that the movie tells and talked about the inspiration they gained from the franchise and Chiefs Kingdom while developing their on-screen characters.
“I play Alana, and her family—they are the biggest Chiefs fans,” King said of her character. “They’ve had season tickets for multiple generations. It’s how her whole family met and began in the first place, and she wants to help them win the Fan of the Year award. Derrick is the Director of Fan Engagement for the Chiefs, and he’s new to the Chiefs, a little new to football, but definitely new to the Chiefs, and they meet, and they butt heads a little bit because Alana is not happy that this man who is new to the Chiefs is in charge of picking the Chiefs Fan of the Year.”
Alana, played by King, values a particular item from her family that they believe affects the outcome of Chiefs games. The holiday accessory is her grandfather’s vintage Chiefs good-luck winter hat, which shockingly goes missing during the contest.
“So at first, they butt heads,” King explained, “and then with a little bit of a push and shove from her family, they help her recognize the spark that exists between the two of them that she’s been trying to ignore. They have a really sweet journey, and he helps her discover more things about herself, and she teaches him about the Chiefs and football and what it means to have tradition and superstition. We are excited for people to see it.”
Her co-star Hynes plays the aforementioned Derrick, who works in the Chiefs’ front office and is charged with judging the fan contest before meeting Alana and her family. The veteran actor described his process of researching the role and history with the Chiefs front office.
“The staff at the Chiefs, I had met a lot because I had done a promo with the Chiefs a year prior for the postseason, and that started my relationship with them,” Hynes said of his familiarity with the team. “So, I already knew some of the staff, and I had met more and were making the movie. I always tell them it’s a biopic about their story. Because this is a peek behind the curtain of their lives.
“We’re in a conference room in one of the scenes in the movie. In that same conference room where we shot, they decided to do both the promo and the movie, and they had all those meetings. We were in their world, and I was playing them in this movie. I’m sure they’ll all be disappointed.”
Assisting in her research for the role of Alana, King embraced the fans of Chiefs Kingdom, drawing inspiration to pour into her character’s dedication and love for the team.
“Everybody could not have been more welcoming to us when we came to Kansas City,” said King. “They welcomed us with open arms. Everybody was asking are you a Chiefs fan? What do you need to know about the Chiefs? Like very much they wore their Chiefs gear every day. I’ve never seen a city like Kansas City where it feels like a Hallmark movie when you step out of the airport and, like everyone at all times, are in Chiefs gear.
“It’s incredible. I love watching football; I have loved watching football since I was a kid. So, I definitely had respect for the Chiefs before filming this movie, and now, after filming this movie, I have a deep love and understanding of Chiefs Kingdom.”
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story Premieres Saturday, November 30, 8/7c on the Hallmark Channel.

The Kansas City Chiefs recently announced their collaboration with Hallmark, Skydance Sports, and the NFL on the film ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,’ which is part of their 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event. A recent update has revealed that team members will feature in the production and details on its highly anticipated plot.
Hunter King plays Alana Higman, who’s sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Tyler Hynes stars as Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, who evaluates how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. It’s clear there’s a spark between the pair after spending time together, but when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate and destiny and even questions her future with Derrick.
Movie production commenced in July. Filming occurred in and around Kansas City locations, highlighting the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. This is the first time the Chiefs’ home stadium has been used as a filming location in a Hallmark movie.
“After we announced the movie, fan excitement reached a fever pitch,” said Samantha DiPippo, Senior Vice President of programming at Hallmark Media, in a statement. “With Coach Reid, Trey Smith, Mecole Hardman Jr., Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and George Karlaftis getting into the game with us, viewers will have even more to cheer about.”
The veteran actor in the movie group of Chiefs is Reid, who has recently become popular in commercials. Fans must wait until the holiday season to see how the defending champions help deliver the magic of love and football.

Hallmark Channel is making a Chiefs-themed Christmas movie.
Just in case you didn’t have enough of the Kansas City Chiefs in your life, the Hallmark Channel will bring the team to your holiday programming with a new Christmas film.
Oh yes, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story will begin production next month in Kansas City and will give the Hallmark Christmas movie an NFL spin.
Tyler Hynes, Hunter King and Ed Begley Jr. are billed as stars for the new Hallmark Christmas project, slated to be the first Hallmark film to ever shoot at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium.
Per a release, the plot for the film sounds, well, exactly how you figure it might.
In Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Alana Higman (King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfathers (Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.
There’s no word if Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce will make cameo appearances in the film, but the release says we should get the movie holiday season on Hallmark Channel.
Can you spot the made-up movie title amid the real ones for the 2023 season?
It’s the most magical time of the year. The temp is dropping, the pumpkin spice is everywhere and the leaves are turning. As we get closer to the holidays it also means one very important thing: Hallmark Movie season.
For the uninitiated, Hallmark Movies live and thrive on the Hallmark Channel and feature a rotating cast of familiar faces — Lacey Chabert! Wes Brown! Candace Cameron Bure! — that tell stories of love and romance that overflow with sickly sweet glances and longing stares.
Often times, the movies feature one character returning to or visiting a cute, Christmas-y town where one works as a journalist or baker and one wears a lot of flannel.
Thankfully, we have Twitter to take us on this journey with her.
Stories like this are often reserved for saccharine romantic comedies with unrealistic plots. A beautiful person just happens to encounter another beautiful person at the airport. They have a meet-cute, they part ways, something reconnects them in an unexpected fashion, their lives are changed forever. (Usually someone is wearing flannel and runs a super cute bakery and/or Christmas tree farm.)
But it never actually happens in real life — right?
Well it did for literary agent Emily Forney. En route to Los Angeles on April 26, Forney found herself sitting next to “the most gorgeous man” she had ever seen. He not only had two books with him, he was chowing down on a morning steak burrito, leading Forney to take her story to Twitter to declare she might have found her “soulmate.”
I’m at the airport going to LA and the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen just sat down on the floor next to me and not only has two books in his bag but he’s eating a whole ass steak burrito at 9am. Y’all I think I found my soulmate
