Seattle Seahawks announce 2023 coaching staff

After hiring a few new faces to the mix, the Seattle Seahawks announced their complete 2023 coaching staff ahead of the start of the season.

The Seattle Seahawks announced their 2023 coaching staff via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, including the addition of some new faces.

First, the Seahawks welcomed Roy Anderson as the team’s new secondary coach, replacing Sean Desai, who accepted the defensive coordinator position with the Eagles.

Secondly, Seattle hired BT Jordan as its pass rush specialist. Jordan assumes the role vacated by former Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry, who is now the Steelers’ outside linebackers coach.

Finally, the Seahawks added Greg Olson as the quarterbacks coach earlier in the spring following the departure of Dave Canales, who became Tampa Bay’s new offensive coordinator.

Below is a look at the complete coaching staff heading into the 2023 season.

Broncos coaching staff update: Strength coach hired, QBs coaches interview

The Broncos interviewed Greg Olson (not to be confused with Greg Olsen) as a QBs coach, hired a strength coach, and lost their WRs coach.

Slowly but surely, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has been building his new coaching staff at Dove Valley.

The latest addition to the staff is Dan Dalrymple as the team’s new strength and conditioning coach, according to a report from NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill. Dalrymple previously held the same role with the New Orleans Saints under Payton.

Elsewhere on the coaching front, the Broncos recently interviewed Greg Olson (not to be confused with Greg Olsen) and Kerry Joseph for the quarterbacks coach position, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. Olson has since been hired by the Seattle Seahawks as a QBs coach.

Denver will also need to find a new wide receivers coach after Zach Azzanni left the team to join the New York Jets in a lateral move, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Azzanni, who coached the Broncos’ WRs over the last five seasons, will reunite with Nathaniel Hackett, who is now the offensive coordinator in New York.

Denver’s own offensive coordinator position remains unfilled, but it’s not a crucial hire for the Broncos given that Payton will run the offense. The team’s defensive coordinator job will be a crucial hire, though, and Denver has several candidates.

Vance Joseph, who has already interviewed with the Broncos, is scheduled to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday and Thursday, according to KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck.

In addition to Joseph, Rex Ryan is also a DC option for Denver, as are Kris Richard, Mike Zimmer and in-house candidate Christian Parker.

We are tracking all of the Broncos’ coaching staff moves on this page.

Seahawks to hire Rams’ senior offensive assistant Greg Olson as QBs coach

If nothing else, Olson comes with plenty of experience.

The Seahawks have found their replacement for former quarterbacks coach Dave Canales, who’s moved on to be offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers.

According to Jonathan Jones at CBS Sports, Seattle is hiring the Rams’ senior offensive assistant Greg Olson (no, not that Greg Olsen) as QBs coach.

In addition to being from the PNW (he is from Richmond, Washington and went to high school at Central Washington), Olson comes equipped with plenty of experience.

Olson got his first coaching job as a graduate assistant at Washington State (1987-1989), followed by a stint as offensive coordinator at Central Washington, then quarterbacks coach – first for Idaho – then Purdue.

The 49ers gave him his first NFL job as their QBs coach in 2001 and since then he’s been bouncing around the league. Olson has put in time with the Bears, Lions, Buccaneers, Jaguars and Raiders to go along with three separate stints with the Rams.

Seahawks expected to hire Rams’ Greg Olson as QBs coach

Rams senior assistant Greg Olson is expected to head to the rival Seahawks as their new quarterbacks coach

The hits just keep on coming for Sean McVay’s coaching staff. After already losing Thomas Brown last week, the Rams will now watch another assistant coach head out of town – and this time to a division rival.

According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Seahawks are expected to hire Greg Olson as their new quarterbacks coach. Olson was a senior assistant on the Rams’ staff this past season and was their quarterbacks coach in 2017 when McVay was first hired.

Olson also interviewed for the Chargers’ offensive coordinator position, as well as the Broncos’ quarterbacks coach.

Olson, 59, first got his start in 2001 as the 49ers’ quarterbacks coach and has bounced from team to team in the last 20-plus years. He had six previous stints as an offensive coordinator.

Two more candidates requested to interview for Chargers’ offensive coordinator position

The Chargers have now requested to interview four candidates.

The Chargers requested to interview Titans tight ends coach Luke Steckel and Rams senior offensive assistant Greg Olson for their offensive coordinator position.

Steckel has been on the Titans staff since 2013 and spent the last two seasons as the tight ends coach. Before that, Steckel worked as an offensive assistant and assistant wide receivers coach. Before his days with Tennessee, he was an assistant to the head coach with the Browns for four seasons.

Olson joined the Rams after spending the last four seasons as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator. He’s also been an offensive coordinator for the Jaguars, Buccaneers, Rams, and Lions. Olson also has over two decades of experience as a quarterbacks coach.

Los Angeles has now requested to interview four candidates for their offensive coordinator vacancy, with the other two being Zac Robinson and Jerrod Johnson.

Chargers to interview Rams’ Greg Olson for OC job

Brandon Staley and the Chargers will interview Rams assistant Greg Olson for their vacant offensive coordinator job

Brandon Staley and the Chargers are searching for a new offensive coordinator after Joe Lombardi was fired and they’ve shown interest in two Rams assistants already. After requesting an interview with Rams QBs coach Zac Robinson, the Chargers will also interview Greg Olson, who’s a senior offensive assistant on Sean McVay’s staff.

Olson is currently in his third stint with the Rams, working as their offensive coordinator in 2006-2007 and QBs coach in 2017 before rejoining them in 2022. In between, he was the Raiders’ offensive coordinator from 2018-2021. He’s also spent time as the OC with the Lions, Buccaneers and Jaguars throughout his coaching career.

Olson, 59, has a ton of experience as an offensive coach in the NFL, and although Staley didn’t work with him while with the Rams in 2020, Staley clearly has a ton of respect for coaches on McVay’s staff.

Rams assistants Eric Henderson, Greg Olson generating interest from teams

Eric Henderson is generating interest as a potential DC, while Greg Olson could get another look as an OC

There could be a shakeup coming on the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff this offseason, even with Sean McVay returning. We already know Liam Coen is gone and the Rams will need to find a new offensive coordinator, but further changes could happen, too – and perhaps not by choice.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, defensive line coach Eric Henderson is generating interest as a potential defensive coordinator. Senior offensive assistant Greg Olson is also a potential candidate to be hired as an offensive coordinator again, a role he held previously with the Raiders.

Raheem Morris is obviously a head coaching candidate, too, having landed two interviews with the Broncos and Colts.

Thomas Brown, who’s currently the Rams’ tight ends coach and assistant head coach, is another candidate to leave for a bigger opportunity. He’ll interview with the Texans for their head coaching role; his departure would be a big loss for the Rams.

Further changes could be on the horizon, as well, if McVay wants to shake things up after a disastrous 5-12 season in 2022.

Report: Rams hiring Liam Coen as offensive coordinator, also bringing back Greg Olson

The Rams are reuniting with two familiar faces, hiring Liam Coen as their new OC and bringing Greg Olson back to Los Angeles

Although he did plenty of celebrating last week after the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI, Sean McVay has also spent time working to fill out his coaching staff for 2022 after it was picked apart by other teams – again.

According to Albert Breer of the MMQB, the Rams are hiring Liam Coen as their offensive coordinator to replace Kevin O’Connell. They’re also bringing back Greg Olson, and RBs coach/assistant head coach Thomas Brown will gain more responsibility with the team.

Coen was the Rams’ assistant quarterbacks coach in 2020 before leaving to become Kentucky’s offensive coordinator last year. He won’t get to call the plays in LA, but this puts him on a path to potentially become an NFL head coach down the road.

Olson was the Rams’ quarterbacks coach for one year in 2017 but was hired by the Raiders as their offensive coordinator in 2018. His role with the Rams is unclear right now, but he’ll be back on McVay’s staff.

Mike Jones of USA TODAY Sports reports that Brown will be more involved in the passing game to help him develop into a future offensive coordinator.

4 candidates for Saints offensive coordinator not named Eric Bieniemy

Pete Carmichael Jr. is expected to step down as Saints offensive coordinator, and it’s unclear who replaces him under Dennis Allen. Here are four names to know besides Eric Bieniemy:

Pieces are already being shuffled around on the New Orleans Saints coaching staff, and more changes are on the way. Pete Carmichael Jr. is expected to step down as Saints offensive coordinator, being reassigned to a different role — but it’s unclear who Dennis Allen plans to replace him with. Here are four names to know besides Eric Bieniemy (we’ve already discussed the high-profile Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, and his candidacy for the job, in depth). Let’s get to it:
