Iowa redshirt freshman tight end Grant Leeper is reportedly entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Leeper played in two games during the 2024 season, but he did not record any stats.
The 6-foot-5, 248 pound tight end signed with Iowa in the Hawkeyes’ 2023 class. A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Leeper was regarded as a consensus three-star signee.
Hawkeye Report‘s Blair Sanderson reported the news that Leeper was set to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

The Gazette’s John Steppe confirmed the news that Leeper was entering the transfer portal, but Steppe said that Leeper may still return to Iowa.
Leeper was rated as the nation’s No. 27 tight end and as the No. 6 player in Indiana in the 2023 class by 247Sports. According to the 247Sports composite, Leeper was the nation’s No. 944 player overall.
Meanwhile, On3 ranked Leeper as the country’s No. 33 tight end and as the No. 7 player from Indiana. The On3 industry ranking placed Leeper as the 1,127th-ranked player overall in the 2023 class.
Moving forward into the 2025 season, Iowa’s tight ends room still features scholarship tight ends Addison Ostrenga, Zach Ortwerth, Michael Burt and Gavin Hoffman.
The Hawkeyes also signed tight ends Thomas Meyer, Eli Johnson and Mason Woods in its 2025 signing class.
