No words can express how much this city has meant to me. It truly has been home for me and my family the past 6 years.

To the fans, I can’t thank you enough for always showing up, being passionate, and cheering loud no matter what.

To my teammates, thank you for all the friendship, good times, and laughs. We did things that no one can ever take away from us!

To Coach Reid, Brett Veach, & Andy Heck, thank you for bringing in an undrafted rookie on his 4th practice squad of the year and coaching me up to play this game at the standard y’all set.

Some of the best times in my life have happened in this city and I am forever grateful. Until next time KC!

Charvarius Ward pens thank you message to Chiefs Kingdom

#Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward took to Twitter to thank #ChiefsKingdom after news of his deal with the 49ers was announced.

Kansas City Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward is set to sign with the San Francisco 49ers at the onset of free agency.

The Chiefs took a chance on Ward back in 2018, trading for him in the same season that he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He worked his way up to becoming a starting corner in the Kansas City defense in the first year under Steve Spagnuolo. He ended up starting a whopping 53 games over the course of his Chiefs career (including playoffs). Now, he’s signing a long-term contract with 49ers with over $26 million in guaranteed money attached.

Shortly after the deal was reported, Ward tweeted out a thank you message to the fans in Kansas City. He isn’t soon to forget all the greatness from the past four seasons with the Chiefs.

“Thanks #ChiefsKingdom for 4 great years. Blessed to have been part of such a great organization. Great coaches, great fans, & a great team. Love y’all,” he wrote on Twitter.

Ward’s departure now leaves a hefty void at the cornerback position in Kansas City. While Brett Veach is confident in players like L’Jarius Sneed and Rashad Fenton to step up in Ward’s absence, they’ll likely look to address the position in both free agency and the draft in order to build it back up.

By Wednesday morning, Wilson had waived his no-trade clause and passed his physical in the Mile-High City to wrap up the deal.

He then tweeted a short and sweet message to his fans in the Emerald City:

Fans can expect to hear more from Wilson once the trade is made official and formally announced.

Reggie Ragland posts thank you message to Chiefs Kingdom

Another former Kansas City Chiefs player posts a goodbye message to Chiefs Kingdom. This time it is Reggie Ragland.

Reggie Ragland followed in the footsteps of his teammates who also left the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, posting a thank you and goodbye message to Kansas City. Ragland has agreed to terms to join the Detroit Lions in 2020, where he’ll begin his next chapter.

Ragland was one of the first players that Brett Veach brought in after becoming the general manager in Kansas City. Ahead of the 2017 season, Veach sent the Buffalo Bills a fourth-round draft pick and received Ragland in return. He was still recovering from an ACL injury at the time, but quickly got up to speed and made an impact on the Chiefs’ defense.

Ragland adjusted to a new role in 2019 in the team’s new defensive scheme under Steve Spagnuolo. He played a big part in creating the culture that led to the championship season in Kansas City. After winning Super Bowl LIV, Ragland joined an elite fraternity of players that have won both a Super Bowl and a college football national championship.

On Thursday evening, Ragland took to social media to show his appreciation for the people who helped make his time in Kansas City so special.

“Kansas City has changed my life for the better,” Ragland wrote on Twitter. “First and foremost, I would like to thank Brett Veach, Andy Reid, and the entire Chiefs coaching staff for welcoming me into this organization with open arms in 2017. To the Kingdom fans and family, you all truly made playing in Arrowhead an unforgettable experience and I’m going to miss you all. To my teammates, I would not be the athlete and leader I am without you all, I got y’all for life!”

Ragland will forever be a part of the brotherhood of players that helped bring a Super Bowl title to Kansas City after a 50-year drought. He’ll be sorely missed on both the team and within the Kansas City community.
