Through an NIL deal with Baton Rouge-based restaurant chain “Walk-On’s,” GiVanni Peterson is now a scholarship player.

Through a unique name, image and likeness deal, walk-on LSU tight end [autotag]GiVanni Peterson[/autotag] was surprised with a full scholarship on Wednesday.

Sports bar and restaurant chain “Walk-Ons” announced the day as National Walk-Ons Day as part of its 20th-anniversary celebration, a tradition that will continue the third Wednesday of every September moving forward.

As part of the celebration, the Baton Rouge-based restaurant announced an NIL deal with Peterson that would award him a scholarship, as was announced in a team meeting with coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and company founder Brandon Landry, a former walk-on himself on the LSU basketball team.

“I don’t know if it will ever hit me because I need to keep that chip on my shoulder, that grind, that mindset,” Peterson said in a video posted to Instagram. “What got me here is going to take me farther. This is not the end, this is just another step in the direction I’m moving.”
