Bears activate WR Byron Pringle from IR

Byron Pringle returns to the Bears after missing the last six weeks with a calf injury.

Reinforcements are on the way for the Chicago Bears receiving corps. The team announced they have activated wide receiver Byron Pringle from injured reserve ahead of their matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Pringle has missed the last six weeks after injuring his calf during the team’s Week 3 victory over the Houston Texans. The former Kansas City Chief has three catches for 33 yards in his first season with the Bears. He rejoins a suddenly crowded receiving room that features Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis, and Velus Jones Jr.

In addition to Pringle, the Bears also announced they have elevated defensive end Gerri Green and cornerback Harrison Hand from the practice squad. With injuries to defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad and cornerback Kindle Vildor, the Bears will look to Green and Hand to fill in, respectively.

Titans sign OLB Gerri Green to practice squad

The Titans made an addition to their practice squad on Thursday.

The Tennessee Titans made an addition to their practice squad on Friday, signing outside linebacker Gerri Green.

A former sixth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2019, Green has never played in a regular season game in his career. He has bounced around on the practice squads of the Colts, New England Patriots, Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders.

He spent most of the offseason with the Raiders, appearing in training camp and the preseason. He was released following the second exhibition contest.

Green takes the practice squad spot of 2022 undrafted free agent and outside linebacker David Anenih, who was poached off Tennessee’s practice squad by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Titans are currently carrying four outside linebackers on their active roster in the wake of Harold Landry’s season-ending injury, with Bud Dupree, Rashad Weaver, Ola Adeniyi and Derrek Tuszka.

Adeniyi is dealing with a neck injury suffered in Week 1 and was limited in practice on Thursday. His status bears monitoring, but if Adeniyi can’t go Green could be elevated for Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.

5 Colts with something to prove at training camp

These Colts have a lot to prove in the coming weeks.

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to begin training camp on July 28 and while they are hoping to do so without any hiccups, it remains to be seen what kind of changes the team will undergo.

Regardless, once training camp does begin in a few weeks, there will be a number of players falling into the perennial category of having something to prove. Whether it’s coming back from injury, looking to bounce back after a poor season or simply looking to stay on the roster, a lot of players have something to prove in 2020.

Here are five Colts with something to prove at training camp:

WR Parris Campbell

Everyone’s favorite comeback kid. The 22-year-old wide receiver really went through it during his rookie campaign. Four separate injuries, three of which required surgery, forced him to miss crucial time in training camp, the preseason forced him to play in just seven games.

But now, Campbell is fully healthy and looking to regain his role as the slot wide receiver in the offense. He will have a chance to prove himself, too. The Colts are still in love with his skill set in the West Coast offense and he has the type of game that will be valuable to a quarterback like Philip Rivers.

But the Ohio State product has to stay on the field if he wants any shot of carving out the role as the No. 3 wide receiver.
