Genshin Impact: Nahida and Layla confirmed for 3.2

Layla and Nahida are coming to Genshin Impact with update 3.2.

Genshin Impact’s update 3.2 will add Layla and Nahida aka Lesser Lord Kusanali into the game as new playable characters. Hoyoverse has revealed both of their official artworks.

The release of update 3.1 is imminent and brings a trio of figures – Cyno, Candace, and Nilou – to the lineup of playable characters in Genshin Impact. Before players dive into the fresh version and continue the main story around what’s happening in Sumeru, the developer has already given a preview of two characters that will come to the action role-playing game with update 3.2.

Genshin Impact 3.2: Layla and Nahida

Nahida should be familiar to players by now: she is the Dendro-Archon herself and thus at least nominally the ruler of Sumeru, though things seem to not exactly go her way at the moment. She appears in update 3.2 as a new 5-star character, joining Venti, Zhongli, and Raiden Shogun as the fourth playable god in users’ rosters. Of course, she makes use of the Dendro element.

Layla is probably the companion 4-star character to Nahida. She is an astrologer – a profession players will already be familiar with due to Mona – at Sumeru Academy, and uses the Cryo element in combat. Leakers have reported that she wields a sword as a weapon. Interestingly, Layla features the same pointy ears that are visible on Nahida and Klee.

Update 3.2 will be released on Nov. 2, 2022, and should bring the main story around Sumeru and Nahida to its conclusion for now, though more content set in the region is sure to follow.

Valve teases Genshin Impact on Steam and Steam Deck

The Steam maker briefly showed the RPG running on its portable device

Valve slipped a sneaky tease for Genshin Impact on Steam at the end of the Tokyo Game Show. The brief glimpse at the anime RPG from HoYoverse running on Steam’s handheld Steam Deck console showed up for just a few seconds at the end of a stream focused on Square Enix’s Forspoken, which YouTuber Komodo posted online.

The clip advertises the Steam Deck and shows units with different versions of the Steam library screen. One highlights Remedy’s popular game Control, while another shows Stardew Valley and Supergiant’s roguelike game Hades.

All of these are currently playable on Steam, which makes the lone Steam Deck showing Genshin Impact’s opening load screen stand out – even more than it already stands out, sat on a higher pedestal as it is.

The smash-hit RPG is currently only playable on mobile devices, PS4 and PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Anyone who wants to play it on Steam is out of luck, though Steam Deck users can install the Epic Games Store on the portable device.

What makes the potential of Genshin Impact on Steam even more of a surprise is HoYoverse’s recent silence on efforts to continue porting the game to other platforms. After it launched on the Epic Game Store, HoYoverse made no direct promise that it would eventually release on Steam. The status of Genshin Impact’s Nintendo Switch port, however, is still currently unknown.

Genshin Impact 3.1 livestream: How and when to watch

Fans of Genshin Impact should take half an hour this coming Friday.

Fans of Genshin Impact should take half an hour this coming Friday – that’s Sept. 16, 2022 – starting at 8 a.m. EDT to watch the livestream for update 3.1 of the action role-playing game. During the show, the developers will, as usual, provide information about the content that players can expect in the fresh game version. They will also provide temporarily active promo codes that deliver free in-game resources like primogems.

As usual, you can find the livestream on the Genshin Impact official Twitch channel.

Genshin Impact 3.1: What to expect

The Sumeru region, released in version 3.0, is growing: after the eastern half of the country, filled with green tropical forests and many bodies of water, in update 3.1 you get to explore the western part of the land, which consists of a vast sandy desert. In it, you’ll find all sorts of ancient ruins and pyramids that hold many secrets. The main story around the Dendro Archon, which began in 3.0, enters its next chapter here.

At the same time, we’re going back to the initial region of Mondstadt, where a celebratory event will take place just in time for the second birthday of Genshin Impact.

Brand new characters also await you: Cyno, Nilou and Candace are already set for the banners of version 3.1. In keeping with the return to Mondstadt, the reruns of Venti and Eula are likely to happen during the coming patch.

Update 3.1 will be released on Sept. 28, 2022, and will last until Nov. 1, 2022.

However, the TCG mode for the game, which has since been confirmed in further leaks, is not expected to arrive until version 3.3 in December 2022.
