HoYoverse opens the floodgates for Genshin Impact Fontaine characters

HoYoverse debuted a new Genshin Impact trailer highlighting the Fontaine region and many of the RPG’s upcoming characters

HoYoverse debuted a new Genshin Impact trailer highlighting the Fontaine region and many of the RPG’s upcoming characters. Three of them even got official reveals on the Genshin Impact Twitter account, though if you’ve been following the game’s many leaks, you may recognize some of the others.

Taking center stage are Lyney and Lynette, two magicians trying their hardest to put on a good show for the people of Fontaine – and the Fatui’s Knave, Arlecchino, who seems to have plans for the siblings. Their brother Frenimet also makes an appearance, albeit in a more sinister fashion, as he appears to be drowning beneath the waves.

Lyney has a Pyro vision, while Lynette wields Anemo, and Frenimet has a Cryo vision. HoYoverse introduced all three on the game’s official Twitter account, so it’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing them in the Genshin Impact 4.0 banners.

Also included in the trailer are the judge Neuvillete, voiced by Ray Chase; Furina, the Hydro Archon, voiced by Amber Lee Connors; Navia the Geo wielder in a witch’s outfit, brought to life by Brenna Larsen; and Charlotte the budding photographer, voiced by Maya Aoki Tuttle. We also see a brief glimpse of the roguish Wriothesley (Joe Zieja) and the pint-sized Sigewinee (Sarah Williams). The trailer description mentions several more, though we weren’t able to identify them in the material shown.

Fontaine itself seems to be an exciting blend of glamour and deception, with technology and entertainment coexisting in a land where truth hides behind layers of illusions – not exactly what you’d expect from the realm of justice.

We have a while yet before we’ll set foot in Fontaine. Genshin Impact 4.0 launches in August, following version 3.8 and the return of both Eula and the summer festival.

Genshin Impact 3.8 banners feature a Eula rerun at last

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.8 banners, and after literally years of waiting, fans are finally getting their Eula rerun

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.8 banners, and after literally years of waiting, fans are finally getting their Eula rerun in the open-world game. Genshin Impact 3.8 goes live on July 5, 2023, and features the now-standard double banners, where each round of banners has two 5-star characters and the same 4-star characters each. As always, these banners will remain active for three weeks before ending and the second round taking over.

HoYoverse hasn’t announced which 4-star characters will run on either banner yet, though if it’s anything like the past few summer adventure updates, we’ll likely see characters who have some kind of tie to the story, such as Collei.

Genshin Impact leakers struck HoYoverse’s entire art department

HoYoverse has struggled with Genshin Impact leaks since the open-world game launched in 2020, but the latest round is the most serious

HoYoverse has struggled with Genshin Impact leaks since the open-world game launched in 2020, but the latest round is easily the most serious – and the most baffling. A veritable flood of information about upcoming Genshin Impact characters in the Fontaine region and possibly beyond is circulating around Reddit, including new character model types, full artwork, and more.

The reason is, apparently, twofold. The leaker posted a lengthy message that some Reddit users re-posted and said they wanted to send a message to HoYoverse and to other Genshin leakers.

“You are a multimillion company,” they said. “You could tighten your security. You do not, however. It is ridiculous and I hope that from this you may change this miHoYo/Hoyoverse.”

by u/The_Great_Ravioli from discussion Just a warning, be really careful because 4x leaks are here
in Genshin_Impact

They also said that they leaked so much information to help break the “clout hierarchy” that they believe characterizes the leaker community. The leaker wants to give anyone who’s interested access to high-quality images of leaked Genshin information, so they don’t have to rely on the whims of high-profile leakers.

It’s an unexpected Robin Hood-style situation and one with no shortage of risks. Despite what the leaker said, HoYoverse has doubled down on leakers in the past 12 months or so, and it seems unlikely this particular act will go unnoticed for long.

Genshin Impact 4.0 is expected to launch in August 2023 with the Fontaine region, several new characters, and the continuation of the free-to-play game‘s ongoing story.

The first Genshin Impact trading card game tournament is coming soon

HoYoverse is hosting a Genshin Impact trading card game tournament, and it’s in real life with a hefty prize pool

HoYoverse is hosting a Genshin Impact trading card game tournament, and it’s in real life with a hefty prize pool. The tournament, officially called the Astra Carnival Prince Cup, will take place later in 2023 and pit the best Genius Invokation TCG players from around the world together in a series of challenges for a chance to win cash prizes.

HoYoverse didn’t say what the grand prize will be, but the entire pool amounts to $270,000.

“As the first international tournament series of Genshin Impact, “Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup” aims to provide bigger stages for talented players and diverse fun for fans and gamers in and outside the game,” HoYoverse said in the announcement. “Regionals in Korea, Europe, and North America will kick off first, with wildcard competition sign-ups open [now].”

The tournament is divided into regional competitions that culminate in larger invitationals. The first one kicks off in Korea on June 11, 2023, with Europe’s happening on June 16, 2023, and North America’s taking place a day later.

Genius Invokation, the name of the Genshin card game, debuted in the RPG in December 2022 with a fresh take on the RPG’s combat and characters – and a chance for players to compete against each other without it mattering which characters they were lucky enough to obtain from the game’s banners.

While the Astral Carnival might be the first official tournament, a friendly competitive scene sprang up around the trading card game almost immediately. HoYoverse worked with fans to create the Cat’s Tail Gathering tournament system on Discord. Top candidates from the Cat’s Tail Gathering will participate in the regional competitions.

HoYoverse is also promising support for non-official Genius Invokation trading card tournaments, with guidance for how to organize and more. If you’re happy to just play against NPCs and your friends in Genshin Impact itself, make sure to check out the 3.7 update, as it adds 60 new cards and even new game modes.

If you’re new to the TCG, check out our guides for the best decks, best character cards, and best support cards to get the upper hand.

The newest Genshin Impact character is a delivery cat girl

HoYoverse teased the next new Genshin Impact character, and she’s a Dendro cat girl who delivers parcels across Inazuma

HoYoverse teased the next new Genshin Impact character, and she’s Kirara, a cat girl who delivers parcels across Inazuma. Kirara is a 4-star Dendro character in the RPG who, assuming HoYoverse’s usual reveal pattern remains the same, will likely debut sometime in Genshin Impact 3.7 once that update launched in late May 2023.

That brings the total number of Dendro characters to nine, even with the number of Hydro characters and two more than the number of Geo characters.

“She’s an adorable little nekomata,” HoYoverse said in an amended character blurb on Twitter. “Just whisper ‘the parcel delivery is going to be late’  in her ear while she’s asleep, and she’ll spring right up and start dashing faster than General Gorou does on the battlefield.”

HoYoverse didn’t reveal anything else about Kirara, though as usual, leakers with access to the next update’s beta already leaked a fair bit about the character. Early indications suggest Kirara uses a sword and generates a strong shield with her skill. The skill’s second function puts KIrara in a box – yes, a cat box – and grants her a movement speed boost while climbing. Her burst will reportedly drop several Dendro bombs, similar to Klee’s Jumpty-Dumpty skill and Aloy’s ice bombs.

While the basics of a character’s abilities don’t change much once a beta begins, their talents and how effective a skill is usually remain flexible. These details will likely change in some way before version 3.7.

Meanwhile, Genshin Impact 3.6 is live with reruns for Nahida and Nilou, ahead of Baizhu’s big debut later in the update.

Genshin Impact 3.6 banners feature Baizhu and a Nahida rerun

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.6 banners, with Nahida and another, long-awaited Dendro character in the spotlight

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.6 banners set to go live on April 11, 2023, with Nahida and another, long-awaited Dendro character in the spotlight The Liyue pharmacist Baizhu, first teased as a playable character when the RPG launched in 2020, will finally show up in a banner – but not until the update’s second half.

The first round of banners will feature Nahida, the Dendro Archon, and Nilou the Hydro swordswoman as the two 5-star characters with increased pull rates. Their unique weapons will also show up again in the Epitome Invocation weapon banner. HoYoverse hasn’t announced who the accompanying 4-star characters will be, though some unverified rumors speculate that Dori, Layla, and Kuki Shinobu may turn up again.

None among the three have made an appearance in a banner for at least six months, though as with all other 4-star characters, they do have a lower chance of appearing in a Wish at any time. Genshin 3.6 marks the first rerun for Nilou and Nahida.

The second set of banners will go live on May 2, 2023, with Baizhu’s first run and another rerun for Ganyu. Baizhu uses a catalyst, and his skills heal the party, while creating a Dendro shield. Since Dendro doesn’t react with Geo, Baizhu is the only way to make a Dendro shield at present. Kaveh, a new 4-star Dendro character who uses a claymore, will also run on both banners. His skills are designed to increase elemental reaction damage, especially from Bloom reactions.

The version update’s flagship event will also give players a chance to recruit Faruzan, a 4-star Anemo character whose abilities reduce enemy Anemo resistance, for free.

HoYoverse announces Honkai Star Rail release date at last

We finally have a Honkai Star Rail release date, and it turns out the RPG’s leakers were correct with their information

We finally have a Honkai Star Rail release date, and it turns out the RPG’s leakers were correct with their information. Honkai Star Rail, from Genshin Impact maker HoYoverse, will launch for PC and mobile devices on April 26, 2023. HoYoverse said Honkai Star Rail for PlayStation is in development and will release at a later time, though didn’t give an estimated launch frame.

Honkai Star Rail isn’t just Genshin Impact in space, although it partly is. Like Genshin, Star Rail is a gacha RPG starring an amnesiac hero, where you spend in-game items (or, less advisably, real-world money) for a chance to recruit characters of varying rarities. Hoyoverse says that’s where the similarities end, though.

Star Rail is a turn-based RPG that draws on multiple sources for inspiration, including Persona, Trails, and Bandai’s Tales of series. The protagonist joins an astral express crew on a journey across the galaxy to uncover the truth behind the Cancer of All Worlds, which sounds rather ominous. The adventure takes them to space stations and outposts with distinct cultures and plenty of problems of their own, including the “silkpunk flagship” Xianzhou Luofu, where the search for immortality drives innovation and deadly conflict.

HoYoverse will be giving away several in-game items to celebrate the game’s launch, alongside the free character and other handy items already promised for exceeding the game’s pre-registration milestones.

While Valve teased Genshin Impact on its Steam platform in 2022, there’s no word on whether Honkai Star Rail will come to Steam – or when Genshin Impact will, for that matter

Genshin Impact Bennett build: Best weapons, artifacts, and materials

How to build Genshin’s best Pyro Support.

If you want to make Bennett’s bad luck a thing of the past then you’ll need to put a good build together. Despite being one of the oldest characters in Genshin, his Support is still among the best in the game, with strong heals, damage buffs, and Pyro application to set up reactions in his arsenal.

His Elemental Skill is a powerful Pyro attack, with an Elemental Burst that hits hard and creates an Inspiration Field that gives HP regen and attack boosts to those in the circle. It’s a great set, and it’s worth taking the time to set him up properly, so we’ll help you do just that with our best Genshin Impact Bennet build.

Genshin Impact voice actor encourages fans to bathe properly

A popular Genshin Impact voice actor advised fans to trim their nails and bathe before attending her concert so they wouldn’t offend people

A popular Genshin Impact voice actor advised fans to trim their nails and bathe before attending her concert so they wouldn’t offend other attendees. Rie Takahashi, who voices Hu Tao in the RPG’s Japanese voice track and also has a career as a band singer and solo artist, didn’t just ask fans to bathe. She provided them with a full self-care diagram on Twitter, complete with advice for how to behave appropriately at the event, which took place at the end of February (thanks, TheGamer).

The infographic Takahashi shared covered how to properly care for one’s nails and the best way to bathe to eliminate body odor. It also reminded people to wear a mask and included other relevant pieces of personal safety information as well.

A move like this could easily come across as offensive, and some followers joined in by poking fun at the stereotypical anime fans.

“Anime fan has discovered personal hygiene! The world is becoming a better place,” one Twitter user said.

Takahashi’s fans mostly responded in a positive way, though. One said they couldn’t bathe due to a serious injury, so Takahashi recommended wipes and dry shampoo, a suggestion they responded to with gratitude. Most thanked her for taking the time to make the infographic and assured her they would refer to it before attending the concert.

Takahashi didn’t post a follow-up about whether her fans actually followed the infographic’s advice.

Genshin Impact 3.5 banners include Dehya and a Shenhe rerun

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.5 banners during the new version’s livestream preview, and the rerun is a surprise

HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact 3.5 banners during the new version’s livestream preview, and the rerun is a bit of a surprise. The 5-star Pyro character Dehya makes her debut, as expected, but appearing alongside her in the first phase of banners is Cyno. The second phase was even more of a surprise for those who expected a Mondstadt-themed set of banners, though it’s a long overdue rerun for one character.

Genshin Impact 3.5 goes live March 1, 2023, so if you’re still after Hu Tao or Yelan, you have a bit of time left to try your luck on the current 3.4 banners.
