Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball ranks pair of Texas A&M transfers in top 5 with rave reviews

“As if the Aggies needed more big-time bats in their lineup for the upcoming season, Henseler is another big-time playmaker at the plate.”

The Texas A&M baseball team will be on a revenge tour in 2025 and head coach Michael Earley has loaded up in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Two of Earley’s additions have caught the attention of many, including Kendall Rogers from D1Baseball. On his “Top 50 Impact Transfer Hitters” list, Rogers ranked two Aggie seniors in the top five.

Third baseman Wyatt Henseler was slotted at No. 3 in the countdown.

“As if the Aggies needed more big-time bats in their lineup for the upcoming season, Henseler is yet another big-time playmaker at the plate,” Rogers stated. “The first thing that stood out about Henseler this fall was his physical 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame. He certainly looks stronger than the measurables would suggest.

“Henseler is coming off four decorated seasons with the Quakers. He hit .365 and .385, respectively, his first two seasons before hitting .321 and then .360 his final two seasons at Penn. Henseler hit 14 or more home runs in each of his final three seasons while also accumulating more than 50 RBI in each of those campaigns as well.”

First baseman Gavin Kash was ranked fifth.

“It’s a one-scrimmage sample size, but Kash, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound, left-handed hitter, looked more like his old self in the Aggies’ scrimmage against Houston earlier this fall,” Rogers wrote. “Kash had a monster 2023 campaign at Texas Tech, hitting .326 with 26 home runs and 84 RBI.

“He also had strong power production for the Red Raiders last season, hitting 17 doubles, 15 home runs and knocking in 51 runs.”

Texas A&M will begin the regular season with a three-game series versus Elon at Blue Bell Park, beginning Valentine’s Day at 6 p.m.

Texas A&M baseball’s 2025 non-conference has been revealed

Here are the dates and times for every non-conference game on Texas A&M 2025 baseball schedule

Texas A&M’s 2025 baseball season is getting closer and closer. New head coach Michael Earley inherited the program after serving as the hitting coach under former head coach Jim Schlossnagle. He is now with the Texas Longhorns after his disastrous transition this summer.

While Schlossnagle and the Aggies are officially old news, excitement is back in College Station ahead of Earley’s first season with a stacked roster after nearly every starter outside of closer Evan Aschenbeck has returned, including star hitters Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovic.

After two exhibition games, the returners are looking solid. Still, the newcomers to the roster, including former Texas Tech infielder Gavin Kash, have made an impact at the plate, while several new faces on the mound, including former Long Beach State P Myles Patton, have looked the part.

Before entering SEC play, Texas A&M will open the season with four consecutive home games vs. Elon, McNeese, Cal Poly, and Texas State before heading to Houston to play in the Astros Foundation College Classic, starting with facing Arizona on February 28th.

Here is the rest of the non-conference schedule:

Former Texas Tech star Gavin Kash confirms to commitment to Texas A&M

According to his post on X, Gavin Kash is all in transferring to Texas A&M next season

With all the chaos surrounding Jim Schlossnagle’s shocking exit to take over rival Texas, new Texas A&M baseball head coach Michael Earley has been making moves through the transfer portal.

Landing several key commitments to the roster, only former Penn outfielder Wyatt Henseler can slightly trump the future addition of former Texas Tech star hitter Gavin Kash. Their combination with the return of Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac makes the Aggies’ lineup the best in the nation.

With the 2024 MLB Draft entering its final day on Tuesday, five Aggies have been drafted, led by outfielder Braden Montgomery, who the Boston Red Sox selected with the 12th overall pick. Kash, who could still hear his name called on Day 3, recently stated on X that he is still committed to transferring to Texas A&M.

In his last two seasons combined with the Red Raiders, Kash hit 41 home runs. He is coming off an impressive 2023 season in which he slashed .300/.365/.561 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs. With 2024 first baseman Ted Burton departing the program, Kash will likely contend for his starting spot next season.

Texas A&M baseball lands a huge commitment from former Texas Tech star

Former Texas Tech star Gavin Kash is heading to College Station!

As someone who has been covering Texas A&M athletics for nearly three years, the last week has been, by far, the craziest in recent memory.

However, the negative tone surrounding Aggie baseball after head coach Jim Schlossnagle shockingly departed to take over the Texas Longhorns program one day after the Aggies’ CWS Championship Finals loss has flipped.

Sunday’s news that former hitting coach Michael Earley had been hired as the program’s 21st head coach led to a host of players on the roster removing their names from the transfer portal, including star hitters Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac.

Although more positive announcements are slated to arrive this week, Earley received an early Christmas (that’s a joke, folks) present hours after his official introduction on Tuesday afternoon. Former Texas Tech star first baseman Gavin Kash will reportedly transfer to Texas A&M for the 2025 season.

As one of the top five players in the transfer portal, Kash is a power hitter with MLB potential. He seems like a nearly seamless replacement for outgoing Aggie first baseman Ted Burton.

In his last two seasons combined with the Red Raiders, Kash hit 41 home runs. He is coming off an impressive 2023 season in which he slashed .300/.365/.561 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs.

Texas Tech’s Gavin Kash is a one-man wrecking crew

This kid is Kash money at the plate.

The No. 19 [autotag]Texas Tech Red Raiders[/autotag] have a high-powered offense on the diamond. They rank among the top 10 in NCAA in 10 different categories. This is thanks in large part to first baseman Gavin Kash.

Kash joined the Red Raiders after one year with the Texas Longhorns in 2022. He played a reserve role behind the ‘Hispanic Titanic’ Ivan Melendez, who launched 32 homers a season ago. Kash didn’t have a single hit leave the yard in 26 plate appearances for the Longhorns. Fast forward to 2023 and Kash has launched 19 home runs, the second-best mark in the country.

The Red Raiders’ top bat is showing off his talent which ranks among the top 10 in five different categories.

By The Numbers (All lead the Big 12):

  • Hits: 68 (No. 1 in NCAA)
  • Total Bases: 141 (No. 1 in NCAA)
  • Runs Batted In: 66 (No. 2 in NCAA)
  • Home Runs: 19 (Tied-No. 2 in NCAA)
  • Slugging Percentage: .860 (no. 8 in NCAA)

As Texas Tech works towards the end of the season and a likely postseason appearance, the success on offense will come from Kash. The Red Raiders begin a three-game weekend series against Baylor on Friday.
