Can the Washington Football Team (2-4) finally pick up a much-needed win on Sunday against the Denver Broncos (3-4)?

Washington has lost three games in a row — all by double digits. But, Washington has been in each of those games until the third quarter when offensive issues, whether it be turnovers, dropped passes, or boneheaded mistakes, cost the team multiple chances at a victory.

So, why could Sunday’s game be the perfect opportunity to head off into the bye week on a positive note?

Denver’s defense is excellent. However, the Broncos have shown a susceptibility to the run in recent weeks. Can Washington make Denver pay with a strong game from Antonio Gibson?

Well, first, Gibson needs to hang onto the football. He’s developed a fumbling problem. Regardless, you should expect Gibson to be a big part of Washington’s game plan on Sunday. And, that is a good thing.

Washington cannot rely solely on quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The Broncos have the type of defense that can frustrate Heinicke. He needs help. The WFT should find a way to get Gibson 20-25 touches while getting creative with players like J.D. McKissic and DeAndre Carter.

This game will come down to the wire, but Denver’s home-field advantage will be too much to overcome on Sunday as the Broncos’ passing offense will find some holes in the Washington secondary.

Washington falls to 2-6 on the season and has two weeks to prepare for the Buccaneers.

Final score predictions for Chiefs vs. Washington

Our final prediction is in.

Does the Washington Football Team have a chance to upset the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday?

Well, the smart money is on the Chiefs, and rightfully so. Washington hasn’t given its fans or anyone who has watched one of its games in 2021 any reason to believe in a big upset.

For Washington to win on Sunday, it will need a complete game from the defense, something that has yet to happen in 2021, and another heroic effort from quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

I do believe Heinicke will have a big day on Sunday. Kansas City’s defense has been worse than Washington’s. Of course, there is always the chance Washington gets behind, and Heinicke forces things, leading to turnovers. It’s been a theme for him in Washington’s losses.

Do I think Washington loses as badly as it did to the Chiefs the last time they came to Washington in 2013? Kansas City defeated Washington, 45-10, in one of the final games of the Mike Shanahan regime. No, I don’t.

However, the Chiefs are just too much for Washington on Sunday

Prediction: Chiefs 38, Washington 24

Can the Washington Football Team win their third game of the season on Sunday in Week 5 action against the New Orleans Saints?

For Washington to improve to 3-2 on the season, it will take all three units to win this game. No, it’s not that the Saints are markedly better than Washington, but a plethora of injuries could prove troublesome for Washington.

In Washington’s two wins, quarterback Taylor Heinicke has carried Washington, with the help of star receiver Terry McLaurin. Heinicke led two fourth-quarter touchdown drives in last week’s win over the Falcons.

Heinicke has received little help from Washington’s defense.

That must change on Sunday. It feels like a broken record to continue saying Washington’s defense needs to play better. At some point, the group has to play better, right?

What Washington needs on Sunday is for running back Antonio Gibson to be more involved — that is, if he plays. Gibson is questionable with a shin injury. The key to getting Gibson involved is to relieve some of the pressure on Heinicke and not make Washington so one-dimensional.

More importantly, Washington needs some winning plays from its struggling defense. It will get that on Sunday.

While I don’t think Washington’s defense has a breakout performance, I think it makes some plays, creating a pair of turnovers to put the offense in good field position. That will be enough to give Washington a close victory on Sunday.
