Alabama lands in top eight for 2024 safety Fred Gaskin III

2024 safety Fred Gaskin III released his top-eight schools on Wednesday. He included Alabama as a finalist.

Alabama was listed as a finalist to land 2024 safety Fred Gaskin III. The Florida native released his top-eight schools via Twitter recently.

Gaskin III received an offer from Alabama after attending a Nick Saban Camp back in June. He has not made a trip to Tuscaloosa since then. However, he will likely take either an unofficial or official visit before making a final decision.

When asked by On3’s Chad Simmons, here is what Gaskin III said about Alabama:

It’s their commitment to excellence. There’s a standard they hold as the best of the best, so putting them in my top schools, it’s me saying I really like what they’re doing with their program. Over the years, they’ve been the top dog for a while now. They’re known for player development and getting guys into the NFL, and also for making better men. They are doing something right with their program.

At this time, Florida is the favorite to land Gaskin III at 47.9% likelihood, according to On3’s RPM. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment unfolds down the stretch.

Penn State among top schools for four-star safety in 2024

Class of 2024 four-star safety updates his top schools, and Penn State is in the running

Penn State is looking to get a nice jumpstart on the Class of 2024 as we begin to get to the final stretch of the Class of 2023 recruiting cycle. On Wednesday, the Nittany Lions received some good news with one potential target from the south as Penn State made the latest top schools cut for a four-star safety.

Fred Gaskin III, a four-star safety from Ocala, Florida shared his top eight schools on his Twitter account. In addition to Penn State, Gaskin included Michigan State, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss, Colorado, and Alabama in his list of top schools. Of those schools, Florida State could be considered a slight favorite with a pair of unofficial visits made during the 2022 season and being the only in-state program in the mix and coming off an encouraging season.

Penn State has had some good quality and depth in the secondary in recent years, but it will be in need of some help at the safety position soon. After losing [autotag]Jaquan Brisker[/autotag] to the draft last season, Penn State will be moving on without [autotag]Ji’Ayir Brown[/autotag], who is also heading to the NFL this year.

Gaskin is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals. On3 ranks him as a three-star prospect.

It is still very early in the 2024 recruiting cycle, but Penn State is currently ranked no. 24 in the Class of 2024 team rankings according to 247Sports.

Auburn offers 2024 athlete out of Florida

The athlete is being pursued by multiple in-state targets as well.

After a successful recruiting weekend at the “Big Cat” event for the 2024 class, Auburn is looking to keep the momentum going.

The Tigers recently offered 2024 recruit Fred Gaskin III out of Ocala, Florida, on Sunday, according to his Twitter account. Gaskin is listed as an athlete and seems to play all around the offense, with his film showing snaps at quarterback, running back and wide receiver.

Gaskin is the fifth “athlete” that Auburn has offered for the 2024 class. None of the other targets for Auburn there have committed, although it may be difficult to make Gaksin the first — he is being pursued by a number of in-state prospects such as Florida, Florida State and Miami.

Gaskin has no Crystal Ball projections at the moment, nor has he narrowed down any teams in his recruitment process, but his name is one to watch as the 2024 class gets closer to signing next year.

Gators to get 5th visit from this 4-star ATH for Friday Night Lights

Things are gonna be cooking in in Gainesville at the end of July.

Less than two weeks ahead of Florida football’s next big event on the recruiting front, news of more and more of the nation’s top prep prospects accepting their invites to Friday Night Lights and the team cookout at the end of July continues to roll in.

The latest to confirm his intent to attend is four-star athlete [autotag]Fred Gaskin III[/autotag] from down the road at Vanguard High in Ocala, who is expected to make it to the former event while missing out on the latter due to a schedule conflict with a camp that day.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 182-pound in-state blue-chipper is expected to play a role in the defensive backfield, most likely at safety. He has warmed up well to Florida’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach [autotag]Patrick Toney[/autotag] so far, offering the following to Gators Online after a recent visit.

“His coaching style, I’m not going to lie, is pretty good. He’s really understanding with how players play. He is all about his development. If you listen to what he says and how he explains it, it worked every time he explained something new to me.”

The Gators are currently out front in his recruitment, with other schools such as the Miami Hurricanes, Penn State Nittany Lions and South Carolina Gamecocks also in the mix, among others.

Gaskin is currently ranked No. 141 overall and No. 19 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 162 and 12, respectively. Florida currently has a solid edge on the competition for his talents, sitting at a 68.9% chance of signing him per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with Miami in second at 16.2%.

4-star 2024 ATH spending lots of time acclimating to Florida football

The Gators remain ahead of the pack for this 2024 in-state 4-star ATH.

Florida football’s recruiting team has been pounding the pavement on the 2023 class while also courting the best that the 2024 brood has to offer. New head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] has put a strong emphasis on the importance of prep recruiting as a primary component of the program’s rebuild, and thus far, he has both talked the talk and walked the walk.

The Gators have also focused their efforts on in-state recruits given the abundance of talent consistently turned out by the Sunshine State. One of their 2024 targets hails from just down the road — four-star athlete [autotag]Fred Gaskin III[/autotag] out of Vanguard in Ocala.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 182-pound multi-talented high school sophomore has already visited the university on several occasions in 2021, including his attendance at summer camp, while also making the trek up I-75 thrice this year. His latest visit came earlier this week when he stopped by for Florida’s one-day camp, after which he offered the following to Gators Online.

“It was good getting around the new staff. It started really good and we were just doing positional drills. Pretty much throughout the whole camp, they gave me good energy.

“Since there were not a lot of people at that camp, they were able to give me more one-on-one time and teach me what goes on in their schemes.”

Gaskin, who is projected to play safety if he chooses the Orange and Blue, is ranked No. 135 overall and No. 16 nationally at his position in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 208 and 16, respectively. While there is still plenty of time for things to change, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has the Gators in the lead for his talents with a 63.4% chance of signing him while the Miami Hurricanes are next in line at 19.7%.
