Recruiting a quarterback in the 2022 class has been difficult for Texas. First, Tom Herman thought he had struck gold by getting five-star Quinn Ewers to commit. Then, the No. 1 overall player in the country flipped to Ohio State, causing panic within the Longhorns’ program.
Since then, trying to find a replacement has become a nationwide search. An option could be a four-star dual-threat prospect Ty Simpson. The Tennessee native has put Texas in his top 10, alongside Alabama and Florida.
Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma are the only other Big 12 school to make the cut. The Longhorns’ in-state rival, Texas A&M, is also in play.
