Here’s why Fossil Creek is one of Arizona’s top summer attractions

Dive in and take a swim.

As summer temperatures rise, people across the United States will flock to oceans, lakes, and pools to cool off. Adventurous types may even seek out swimming holes. In Arizona, savvy explorers will instead make their way to the clear blue waters of Fossil Creek.

Located about 100 miles north of Phoenix, this Arizona landmark might be the best place for a day trip this summer. What makes the region so special? While Fossil Creek’s unbelievably gorgeous waters have attracted visitors for years, recent improvements to its surrounding roads will soon make it easier to access.

According to a Recreation.gov notice, the newly resurfaced roads will reopen on June 26. Learn more about the area and reserve a permit here. And if you want a sneak peek of the scenery you can expect at Fossil Creek, check out the photo gallery below.
