4-star receiver, LSU target TJ Moore narrows list to 13 schools

The Tigers made the cut for the talented Tampa Catholic receiver.

Class of 2024 recruit TJ Moore has narrowed down his list of schools to 13.

The four-star receiver out of Tampa Catholic has combined elite speed and athleticism with the ability to stick catches in traffic to make a name for himself as a top receiver in the class and is a top-190 recruit, per On3.

Schools on his radar include LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and others. His highlight tape is full of one-handed grabs and contested catches. The 6’3″ receiver will likely play outside and be a big-play threat for whatever school lands him.

In his junior season at Tampa Catholic, Moore brought in 42 receptions for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Moore’s current list consists of schools from four of the five power conferences, excluding the Big 12. His options remain open, and we can expect his list to narrow in the coming weeks as he continues to attend unofficial visits.

LSU among this trending 2025 quarterback’s ‘big 3’

The Tigers are one of several schools making an impression on 2025 signal-caller Carter Smith.

LSU has a pretty solid outlook at the quarterback position with [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] and [autotag]Rickie Collins[/autotag] already on the roster and [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag] set to arrive next year as a 2024 signee.

Still, you always need to be thinking abut the long-term, especially at the quarterback position and in the transfer portal era. With that in mind, the Tigers are one of several programs making a push for Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot signal-caller [autotag]Carter Smith[/autotag].

A bit of a late bloomer, even for a rising high school junior, Smith received his first offer from Florida A&M back in October and has since received more than a dozen offers, including several from power conference teams.

There’s a lot of time before he signs on the dotted line, but he told On3 that LSU is among his “big three” alongside Florida State and Ole Miss. He grew up an LSU fan due to family in Louisiana, and he has had contact with quarterbacks coach [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag], who is looking to bring him in for either a spring or summer visit.

Smith is not currently ranked on the 247Sports Composite, nor according to On3, but that is likely to change given the caliber of offers he has received. LSU will hope to remain in the mix for him as his recruitment proceeds.

[autotag]Jaime Ffrench[/autotag] is a four-star, 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide receiver from the class of 2025. He is from Jacksonville, Florida where he plays for Mandarin High School.

Ffrench is not the first athlete from Mandarin that Kelly has offered. He also offered a 2024 four-star cornerback from there.

Ffrench currently doesn’t have any Crystal Ball projections but Florida State is a 22% favorite per On3.

Film Analysis: Ffrench is a Top 50 overall recruit for the class of 2025 and it is easy to see why. He is a tremendous route runner with great hands. He can burn any defense that tries to guard him.

LSU making a late push for elite, 5-star 2024 RB prospect

The Tigers have a lot of ground to make up in the recruitment of top 2024 RB Jerrick Gibson.

Better late than never, I suppose.

LSU recently extended an offer to five-star 2024 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back [autotag]Jerrick Gibson[/autotag] — the top back in the cycle — and the Tigers will hope to make a late push for one of the nation’s elite high school prospects.

Gibson’s recruitment has mostly centered around four teams: Texas (which is heavily favored to land him), Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. However, LSU has thrown its hat in the ring, and Gibson has said he plans to visit Baton Rouge, which he has never seen before.

It’s late in the process for a top prospect like Gibson, and given the fact that Texas holds multiple Crystal Ball projections as well as being more than a 90% favorite per On3, the Tigers are fighting an uphill battle with a lot of ground to make up.

Still, it’s clear that [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] isn’t one to shy away from recruiting battles for elite prospects.
