Footage shows large Florida gator trying ‘to climb up a house’

A home security camera has captured nighttime footage showing an alligator attempting to climb the outside wall of a Florida residence.

A security camera on Monday captured nighttime footage showing a large alligator attempting to climb the outside wall of a Florida residence.

Matt Devitt, chief meteorologist at WINK News, stated via X that the attempted break-in by the ‘huge Florida gator’ occurred in Babcock Ranch.

“That’s a new one!” Devitt observed.

The footage was credited to a WINK viewer named Kayla.

Devitt receives plenty of gator footage from viewers.

A haunting image he showcased last February showed a massive alligator sprawled on a golf course, gazing toward the photographer in what Devitt described as a “Jurassic’ moment.

In March Devitt shared footage of a large alligator tearing through a metal fence to with astonishing ease, although it was later revealed that the fencing was aluminum.

“Only in Florida,” Devitt wrote.

It’s not surprising that alligators occasionally generate headlines in Florida.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) states on its website that about 1.3 million alligators reside in the state, and that they inhabit all 67 counties.

Watch: Florida gator tears through metal fence with alarming ease

A Florida meteorologist has shared video footage showing an enormous alligator tearing through a metal fence to reach the other side.

Last month, a Florida weatherman shared a compelling image showing a massive alligator seemingly staring down a photographer on a golf course.

“Welcome to Florida, home to Jurassic Park,” Matt Devitt, Chief Meteorologist for WINK News, wrote on Facebook.

On Friday, Devitt shared the video footage posted below, showing another enormous gator easily breaching a metal fence to access the other side.

“Check out this big guy bend the aluminum bars and plow right through it this week in Placida,” Devitt wrote on Facebook. “He eventually got through according to the viewer who shot the video. Only in Florida!”

Devitt stressed in the comments section, which contained input from nearly 2,000 followers, that the bars were not as formidable as, say, wrought iron.

Still, many were impressed by the ease with which the gator clawed through the barrier.

“This can’t be real,” one person wrote.

The alligator’s size was not provided, but for those who might wonder, the longest alligator recorded in Florida measured 14 feet, 3-1/2 inches. The weight record is 1,043 pounds.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) states on its website that about 1.3 million alligators reside in Florida, and they inhabit all 67 counties.

The state monitors a Nuisance Alligator Hotline for those who are in need of a licensed trapper.

Don’t sleep on Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson this fall

Florida fans should be thrilled that coach Dan Mullen is comfortable with Emory Jones or Anthony Richardson under center this season.

Dan Mullen likes to treat his quarterbacks delicately. He lets them soak up information from the sideline and gives them glimpses of action through their first couple of years on campus. Quarterback Anthony Richardson may only be a redshirt freshman, but Mullen has spent a good amount of time hyping up his play during fall camp. He went out of his way to point out that the local Gainesville native played well during the first scrimmage.

“They’re different,” he said about the quarterbacks after the first scrimmage. “Nobody asked about Anthony. Anthony is doing an unbelievable job. Anthony had a huge night last night. Did really well, made a lot of great decisions. Very accurate. I think he threw three touchdown passes. Obviously is a dynamic runner as well, making good decisions. I feel very comfortable with both guys, which is a good thing.”

The other quarterback he is referring to is redshirt junior quarterback Emory Jones. He is still considered a virtual lock to be the starter this season. However, Florida fans should be thrilled that Mullen feels comfortable throwing him in there if Jones struggles or get hurts.

“I think he looks great. I think he’s prepared himself to be the starter, which is what you want, you know?” Mullen said Monday, according to Swamp247. “He’s going to be ready to get on the field in just about any situation that it is. Now it’s our job to kind of put him in the different situations so that he has that experience in every different possible scenario for when he is on the field.”

Regardless though, Richardson should see some snaps this season because Mullen gave Jones some snaps throughout his first three years on campus.
