Sam Houston at FIU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Sam Houston at FIU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Sam Houston State Bearkats (5-2, 2-1 CUSA) and FIU Panthers (2-5, 1-2) meet Tuesday. Kickoff from Pitbull Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Sam Houston vs. FIU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Sam Houston was routed 31-14 by Western Kentucky Wednesday as a 1-point favorite. The Bearkats put up only 11 fewer yards than the Hilltoppers, but also allowed 21 unanswered points after leading 14-10 with over 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

FIU was beaten 30-21 by the UTEP Miners Wednesday while failing to cover as a 7-point favorite. FIU played 3 QBs, who combined for only 202 yards with 2 TDs and 4 INTs in the loss. The Panthers also averaged just 2.6 yards per rush vs. UTEP.

Sam Houston at FIU picks and predictions

Prediction

Sam Houston 31, FIU 28

Moneyline

PASS.

The Bearkats will pick up the win here, as they are simply the better team, but I do not advise betting them, as -225 favorites are never worth the risk. Bet the spread and/or O/U instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

BET FIU +5.5 (-110).

FIU has a very solid passing attack, which averages 222.9 yards per game, and an offense that averages 26.1 points per game. I expect the Panthers to get back to that with QB Keyone Jenkins (shoulder) expected to play. This Panthers offense will have enough success vs. a Sam Houston defense that allows 219.1 passing yards per game — and 24.9 points — to cover here.

Over/Under

BET OVER 46.5 (-110).

The Over is a safe bet, as both teams allow over 24 PPG and have offenses that score over 24 PPG. This will be an offensive battle where neither team will get too many stops until absolutely necessary.

The Over has also hit in 2 of the Bearkats’ last 3 games overall and is 4-2 in FIU’s last 6.

FIU at Liberty odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s FIU at Liberty odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The FIU Panthers (2-3, 1-0 Conference USA) and Liberty Flames (4-0, 2-0) tussle Tuesday night in Lynchburg, Va. Kickoff at Williams Stadium is7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around FIU vs. Liberty odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Florida International last played on Sept. 28 when it snapped a 2-game losing streak with a 17-10 triumph vs. the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Panthers have struggled on both sides of the ball. They rank outside the FBS top-100 in total yards (327.6) and yards allowed (408.0).

Liberty last played on Sept. 21, keeping its undefeated record intact with a 35-24 home win over the East Carolina Pirates. The Flames crawled out of a 17-0 hole in the victory. Two long 4th-quarter drives sealed the win.

FIU at Liberty picks and predictions

Prediction

Liberty 35, FIU 21

Moneyline

PASS: No interest here.

Against the spread

Liberty is 5-15 ATS across its last 20 games when lined as a double-digit favorite.

Neither side has played much of a schedule so far. The layoff for Liberty could be a factor here. And the Flames have been perhaps too reliant on big 4th-quarter performances.

FIU has some ATS wins on its resume (Aug. 31 at Indiana, Sept. 7 vs. Central Michigan, Sept. 28 vs. LTU) that bode well for its outlook here.

The Flames won last year’s meeting in 38-6 boat-race fashion, but look for a stronger FIU performance in this Tuesday nighter.

BACK PANTHERS +17 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over is 7-2-1 across Liberty’s last 10 home games when the Flames are favored. The Over is 4-2 in FIU’s last 6 road games.

Look for Liberty to get its points and have the lead, but for the Panthers to be more explosive than they were in last year’s meeting. FIU has done well in converting red-zone trips into 6-pointers.

On a good-weather night, the lean here is on the OVER 54.5 (-110).

Jacksonville State at FIU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Jacksonville State Gamecocks at FIU Panthers odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks (6-2, 4-1 Conference USA) and FIU Panthers (4-4, 1-4) meet Wednesday night in University Park, Fla. Kickoff at Riccardo Silva Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jacksonville State vs. FIU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Jacksonville State has fared quite well in its 1st season with an NCAA Division I FBS classification. The Gamecocks are coming off a 20-17 upset win as a 7.5-point underdog over Western Kentucky last Tuesday.

Florida International also triumphed in a 1-score game last Wednesday, defeating Sam Houston State 33-27 in double-overtime as a +5 underdog. Three of the Panthers 4 wins have been as an underdog.

Jacksonville State at FIU picks and predictions

Prediction

Jacksonville State 27, FIU 17

Moneyline

Lots of juice here: PASS.

Against the spread

Both sides have piled up some 1-possession margins, and there is a decent amount of gray area in and around the prognosis of a JSU-by-7-to-10 game.

Both teams have played weak schedules. PASS.

Over/Under

Jacksonville State figures to run the ball a lot, but it also plays at a fast pace. With a little more success on 3rd downs and possibly a bit of regression in the average-drive-start yardage, FIU might well cede a lead to the Gamecocks, but then hang around in a low-scoring tussle.

The Miami forecast is calling for winds in the 15-mile-an-hour range. That could monkey with some field-goal attempts and make for more ground game and running-clock snaps.

There is more combined defensive talent on the field as a whole, and there has been some turnover/short-field benefit to some games on both sides that stand out as relative offensive success.

BACK THE UNDER 45.5 (-105).

UTSA at FIU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s UTSA at FIU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UTSA Roadrunnners (4-2, 2-0 C-USA) and the FIU Panthers (2-3, 0-1) meet in a conference game Friday at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UTSA vs. FIU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Roadrunners hit the road looking to add to the woes of the Panthers. UTSA picked up a 2nd straight conference win last week against Western Kentucky, and it is averaging 38.0 PPG in 2 games inside Conference USA. The Over is 5-1 in 6 games overall for UTSA.

The Panthers surprised with a 21-7 road win at New Mexico State on Oct. 1, but returned home last week and suffered a 33-12 setback against UConn. FIU is now 1-4 ATS overall this season.

UTSA at FIU picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 49, FIU 12

Moneyline

UTSA (-10000) should be able to pound FIU in this Conference USA battle, but it goes without saying you shouldn’t play giant money lines like this. There is just no money to be made, and it isn’t worth the risk.

PASS.

Against the spread

UTSA -33.5 (-108) is a decent play on the road laying the points, as QB Frank Harris and the offense is rolling along. It has finally figured out how to transition from a run-heavy offense last season to a more pass-happy attack.

The Roadrunners are 14-5 ATS in the last 19 games on the road, while posting a 4-1 ATS record in the last 5 appearances on a Friday. Meanwhile, the Panthers are 7-22 ATS in the last 29 games overall, while going 7-19 ATS in the last 26 C-USA outings.

Over/Under

UNDER 62.5 (-105) is worth playing here.

The thinking is that UTSA will score plenty, but FIU will have difficulty getting very far into double digits, if they reach the figure at all.

You’ll be playing against UTSA’s Over trends, as it is 9-1 in the last 10 games overall, and 8-0 in the last 8 on the road. FIU also allows plenty of points, but it won’t be able to do much offensively.

Charlotte at FIU odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Charlotte 49ers at FIU Panthers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte 49ers (3-2, 1-0 CUSA) and Florida International Panthers (1-4, 0-1) tangle in a Friday night contest at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Charlotte vs. FIU odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Charlotte heads on the road for the third time in four weeks. The 49ers are coming off a 24-14 loss at Illinois in which Charlotte was held to a season-low 263 yards. The 49ers were torched for 336 yards on the ground, and that’s part of a season-long trend. Charlotte ranks 128th in FBS with 254.8 rushing yards allowed per game.

The Panthers are back at home after losing three straight on the road and FIU has dropped four straight overall. For the season, the Panthers rank 118th with 35.2 points allowed per game and 128th in total defense with 502.8 yards allowed per game. Florida International is looking for its first Conference USA victory since Nov. 2, 2019.

The 49ers and Panthers are meeting on the gridiron for the first time since 2019. FIU is 5-0 all-time against Charlotte (2-2-1 against the spread).

Charlotte at FIU odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 9:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Charlotte -170 (bet $170 to win $100) | FIU +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Charlotte -3.5 (-107) | FIU +3.5 (-115)

Charlotte at FIU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Charlotte 38, FIU 35

Money line

Charlotte has a win over Duke and a respectable outing at Illinois on its record. The 49ers look to be getting a bit too much of a lean with the public, and the betting lean here is with the Panthers.

PASS on the money line, though. A price of +145 or better would be required for any value.

Against the spread

Panther QB Max Bortenschlager has tossed 2 TD passes in each game. The redshirt senior is a transfer from Maryland who has thrown for 250-plus yards in four of five games.

Bortenschlager has some talented weapons to target, and that FIU pass game gives the home side a puncher’s chance against a Charlotte team on a short week and playing its third road game in four weeks.

BACK FIU +3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Over is 4-1 in this series, and the four wins have been decisive (23.6-point margin of cover).

The FIU defense hasn’t really stopped anyone. Look for Charlotte to have success running the ball and in producing a few explosive plays in the passing game. Peg the Panthers as being able to manufacture some big plays in the air as well.

In analytic measures like havoc and finishing drives, both offenses figure to have a sizable advantage.

TAKE THE OVER 60.5 (-112).

FIU at Western Kentucky odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s FIU Panthers at Western Kentucky Hilltoppers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The FIU Panthers (0-4 overall, 0-2 C-USA) and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (3-6, 2-3) meet in Bowling Green, Ky. for a 2 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday. Below, we analyze the FIU-Western Kentucky college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

FIU at Western Kentucky: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: FIU +240 (bet $100 to win $240) | Western Kentucky -304 (bet $304 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: FIU +7.5 (-115) | Western Kentucky -7.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 43.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

FIU at Western Kentucky: Three things to know

  1. Head coach Butch Davis’ Panthers are winless through the first four games, and they have failed to cover the past three. That includes a 38-19 loss at home to rival FAU and a disappointing 19-10 setback to FCS Jacksonville State as 10-point favorites. The offense has managed just 22.8 points per game while yielding 31.0 PPG.
  2. Western Kentucky is coming off a 10-7 victory over Southern Miss. In the Hilltoppers’ previous game at FAU, they were scoreless at halftime before falling 10-6 as 6.5-point underdogs. They have scored 14 or fewer points in each of the past six, and it’s no surprise the Under is a perfect 4-0 over the last four.
  3. Western Kentucky’s offense has been toothless, posting just 277.1 total yards per game, 162.8 passing YPG and 114.3 rushing YPG. Defensively the Hilltoppers aren’t too shabby. They rank seventh against the pass, allowing just 167.2 YPG.

FIU at Western Kentucky: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

FIU 16, Western Kentucky 13

Money line (ML)

FIU (+240) is an attractive upset special target, mainly because of the impotence of the Western Kentucky offense. If you feel the ‘Toppers (-304) are going to win, there is no way you can justify risking more than three times your winnings on a 3-6 club with a dismal attack.

Against the spread (ATS)

FIU +7.5 (-115) is a great play, even if you’re not feeling the Panthers to win outright. That hook is super important. Plus, Western Kentucky has no business being favored by more than a touchdown against anyone. Yes, the Hilltoppers are 3-1 SU as a favorite this season, but they’re also 0-4 ATS in those games, including last week as an 8-point fave.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 43.5 (-115) is always a risky play in college football, as that number is super low in this day and age. But Western Kentucky has hit the Under in four in a row. FIU is averaging 14.5 PPG across the past two contests, and it will find it tough sledding against a stout WKU defensive unit.

FAU at FIU odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s FIU Owls at FAU Panthers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The FAU Owls (3-1, 3-1 C-USA) and FIU Panthers (0-3, 0-1) meet in Miami for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff Friday. Below, we analyze the FAU-FIU college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

FAU at FIU: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 5:33 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: FAU -334 (bet $334 to win $100) | FIU +265 (bet $100 to win $265)
  • Against the spread/ATS: FAU -8.5 (-110) | FIU +8.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 40.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

FAU at FIU: Three things to know

  1. FAU leads the all-time series 13-4. FIU would have a fifth win in the series by its 2005 victory was vacated. The Owls have won each of the past three meetings, winning by an average of 31.0 PPG during the impressive span. The Owls have covered four of the past five meetings in this series, and the Over is 4-0 in the past four in Miami.
  2. The Owls are having a power outage on offense this season. While they won last week against Western Kentucky, they struggled in the 10-6 victory, and the game was scoreless at halftime. In fact, FAU is averaging just 5.8 points in the first half this season, and 16.0 PPG overall. The Under is a perfect 4-0 for Willie Taggart’s bunch thanks to a defense yielding just 11.5 PPG, fourth in the country.
  3. FIU hasn’t played since Oct. 23, an embarrassing 19-10 loss at home against FCS Jacksonville State. The Panthers are averaging 24.0 PPG, and they have yielded 28.7 PPG. They have covered once this season, a 36-34 near-miss at Liberty back on Sept. 26.

FAU at FIU: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

FAU 23, FIU 12

Money line (ML)

FAU (-334) has looked disjointed on offense all season, and it consistently gets off to slow starts. Facing FIU should be the elixir to cure the Owls’ ills, but you cannot justify risking more than three times your potential return. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

FAU -8.5 (-110) is a risky play, so go lightly, but the Owls should be able to move the ball a little more freely against FIU. The Panthers should be a little rusty since they haven’t played in three weeks, and that also is in the favor of the Owls.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 40.5 (-110) seems like an unreal play in this day and age of college football. There are some games where you’ll see this line hit by halftime. But keep thumping Unders in FAU games, as it’s just so stagnant on offense. Remember, this is a team which saw double aughts on the scoreboard last week against Western Kentucky, and it is playing this one on a short week.
