It is time once again for the weekly USA TODAY Sports FBS re-ranking. Plenty of action this week as we head into the final stretch. Plenty of games to highlight during rivalry week but let’s look at the SEC rankings from Week 12.
In this week’s edition, the LSU Tigers fell two spots despite beating ULM 27-14 at home. It wasn’t a great performance for the Bayou Bengals and they were a couple of fourth and goal conversions away from either being tied or behind. They went the way of LSU and they were able to hold on for the victory. A win is a win, but it doesn’t do a whole lot for the confidence of this team when they struggle against lesser competition.
This week’s SEC Rankings:
- Georgia Bulldogs: No. 1 Overall
- Alabama Crimson Tide: No. 3 Overall
- Ole Miss Rebels: No. 9 Overall
- Texas A&M Aggies: No. 21 Overall
The Aggies defeated Prairie View A&M over the weekend by a score of 52-3 but that wasn’t enough to keep them from dropping a spot in this week’s re-ranking. The big win by Utah over Oregon dropped them down.
- Kentucky Wildcats: No. 27 Overall
- Arkansas Razorbacks: No. 28 Overall
Despite that Sam Pittman and his Hogs were within one score of the Tide when the final gun sounded wasn’t enough to hold their previous ranking. They dropped five spots this week.
- Mississippi State Bulldogs: No. 29 Overall
- Tennessee Volunteers: No. 41 Overall
- Auburn Tigers: No. 44 Overall
It was a rough week for Auburn after losing their starting quarterback Bo Nix for the season. Couple that with a loss to South Carolina the week before the Iron Bowl. Things likely won’t get much better this week.
- Missouri Tigers: No. 53 Overall
- LSU Tigers: No. 54 Overall
- South Carolina Gamecocks: No. 59 Overall
- Florida Gators: No. 71 Overall
The Gators continue their freefall after another loss, this time to Missouri in overtime when Eli Drinkwitz opted to go for two. The Tigers win over Florida dropped the Gators 13 spots and cost Dan Mullen his job. Much like LSU, Florida is too talented in a recruiting hotbed state to be performing this poorly.
- Vanderbilt Commodores: No. 116 Overall
