Kim Mulkey, LSU women’s basketball coast to another win

LSU women’s basketball keep it rolling on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, the LSU Tigers took on the Texas Southern Tigers. LSU dominated Texas Southern 96 to 55. The win improves the Lady Tigers record to 7-1. Texas Southern was only down by two at the end of the first quarter, but it was all downhill from the second quarter on.

LSU outscored Texas Southern 31 to 8 in the second quarter and never looked back. The Tigers used strong defense in rebounding in the blowout win. LSU held Texas Southern to 33.8% shooting from the field and outrebounded them 48-20.

Faustine Alfuwa led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. She also added five rebounds. LSU’s leading scorer added 13 points, six rebounds, five-assist, and five steals. Alexis Morris pitched in with 11 points.

The Lady Tigers bench pitched in with 48 points, Hannah Gusters and Timia Ware led the way with nine points apiece. LSU moved the ball well and shot 62% from the field while dishing out 26 assists.

Texas Southern leading scorer Shalexxus Aaron scored 11 points, while Jala Buster led the Tigers with 13 points. Texas Southern had tough time scoring due to tough defense, but Texas Southern also shot 6-23 on layups.
