This YouTuber made a playable Lego Fallout game

YouTuber and game developer ThrillDaWill created a Lego Fallout game that you can play for free, with features including VAT and more

If you ever dreamed of a Lego Fallout game, well, you weren’t alone. YouTuber and game developer ThrillDaWill polled their followers earlier in 2022 and asked what kind of Lego game they wanted to see him create, and the overwhelming consensus was Lego Fallout 4. So ThrillDaWill made it, and you can play it on PC now, for free (thanks PCGamer).

ThrillDaWill posted a brief video on YouTube outlining some of the high and low points they faced along the way. Their Lego Fallout game started as a straightforward Lego shooter, before they added more features and made something closer to a proper Fallout game.

The playable version even includes VATS, the name of Fallout’s advanced targeting system, inventory management, and some impressive blocky visuals ThrillDaWill created with a multitude of block types and textures.

Loading times were one of the biggest issues they encountered, not helped by the game having to render so many blocks at any given moment.

You can find ThrillDaWill’s Lego Fallout game on Itch.io.

The project released at a fitting time, with Bethesda in the middle of celebrating Fallout’s 25th anniversary. Other official announcements include a Fallout 4 current-gen update on the way and a brief tease of the Fallout TV show from Amazon.

Fallout 4 is getting a free current-gen update for consoles and PC

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can look forward to playing much better versions of Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 will receive a shiny new current-generation coat of paint for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023. Best of all, it won’t cost existing owners a dime!

As part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration, Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 is getting a free update next year that’ll take full advantage of current hardware. Some new features include 4K resolutions, high framerate caps, plenty of bug fixes, and creation club content — pretty much all of the technical bells and whistles we’ve come to expect from touch-ups like this. It’s essentially the same style of port that Skyrim recently had.

There’s no firm release date for this patch yet, only that it’s coming in 2023. Bethesda will reveal launch information at a later date.

It’s been several years since a brand-new Fallout came out, and the fifth installment isn’t releasing until after Elder Scrolls 6 drops. It’ll be a long wait since Starfield also needs to launch before Fallout 5. Get a deck of cards ready and all that.

However, a Fallout TV show is in the works for fans craving more. Set photos recently leaked and were promptly taken down – a shame since it looks fantastic. Trust me!
