Fall Guys: Free To Play launch times on Xbox and Nintendo Switch

Here’s when Fall Guys goes F2P across Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store, following delisting from Steam.

Fall Guys is the game that swept PC and PS4 players into a frenzy back in the Summer of 2020, keeping players inside whether they liked it or not. Fall Guys is a simple game – all you do is run, jump, and grab, and the little bean characters aren’t even particularly good at that, honestly.

It’s a simple race to the finish, with a set number of beans being eliminated along the way. The only problem is that if you don’t own a PS4 or PC, then you’ve been living without Fall Guys for the last two years. Well that all ends very soon, as Fall Guys is releasing on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles very soon, and entirely free to play – finally! For all of the details on when Fall Guys goes free, just read through our breakdown below.

Fall Guys free to play coming June 21 alongside Switch and Xbox versions

The next Fall Guys season is a little different, as the game will be going fully free to play.

The next Fall Guys season is a little different, as the game will be going fully free to play. This is happening at the same time as the game finally launches on Switch and Xbox. Full cross-play and cross-progression is available, so you can keep your cosmetics and big fat dubs when you leave the house or switch rooms.

The new season, appropriately titled Free For All, features “brand-new events and locations” but the big changes are in progression. A new in-game currency, Show-Bucks, will support a season pass structure for those who want to invest. Folks who bought the original game will all receive the “Legacy Pack” – a batch of cosmetics and the first Season Pass.

The Season Pass will live alongside the already-existing progression system and Kudos currency. It doesn’t look like any actual gameplay content – maps, events, etc. – will be exclusive to the Season Pass, as you’d expect. Here’s the livestream archive of the announcement, if you missed it.

Fall Guys is still getting around 8,000 concurrents a day. That’s a far cry from the six-figure glorydays, but not bad for a game of its age, and more than enough to carry games. It will be interesting to see how much the numbers get pumped up.

‘Fall Guys’ might be getting a new mode thanks to ‘Squid Game’

An unused game mode may be coming back to Fall Guys because the developer watched Squid Game.

Everyone’s been watching Squid Game, the Korean Netflix series about a group of unfortunates who take part in a deadly game in the hopes of crawling out of poverty. It’s brutal, dark, and harrowing, highlighting the horrors that people can inflict upon each other for the promise of money, as well as the evil deeds committed by those who already have it.

While Fall Guys is also about a game show, it’s pretty much the opposite of Squid Game. Fall Guys is bright and breezy video game fun for all the family, and its only comment on capitalism is: you should buy this cool skin, bro.

In a recent interview with TechRadar, Fall Guys lead game designer Joe Walsh said he’d seen the Korean Netflix show and it had reignited his passion for an idea the developer left on the cutting room floor — a Fall Guys version of Red Light, Green Light.

If you’re not familiar with that famous childhood game, players are tasked with getting to the finish line in a race, but they can only move when the green light is showing. When the red light shows, everyone must freeze on the spot. In Squid Game, the consequence for failure is a violent death. Presumably, Fall Guys won’t be so emo about it.

“Within a video game, there’s something about movement,” Walsh told TechRadar. “[I]n real life it’s very hard to stay still, but in a video game, you just put your controller down. And so, at the time, I think we were like, ‘We’ll never do Red Light, Green Light, it doesn’t make sense.’ But now, seeing how popular Squid Game is, I’d love for us to have another crack at something like that and see if we could do it in Fall Guys.”

Fall Guys has enjoyed crossovers from a bunch of other games, movies, and shows since it launched. We’ve had purchasable skins from The Witcher, Portal, and more. It’s doubtful that there will be an official crossover between Fall Guys and Squid Game, but it will be cool to see what the developer does to make Red Light, Green Light work in video game form.

The Los Angeles Rams got to open SoFi Stadium on Sunday night against the Cowboys, and now it’s the Chargers’ turn to take center stage at one of the NFL’s most lavish stadiums.

Chargers safety Rayshawn Jenkins and kicker Mike Badgley spent some time on Wednesday enjoying SoFi’s signature “Oculus” videoboard – a 2.2 million-pound, 70,000-square-foot double-sided screen – by using it to play Fall Guys from a gaming station set up on the edge of the field. This is clearly the best use of the technology, and feels like it could make for some great halftime entertainment. Imagine an entire NFL stadium hanging on the outcome of a round of Fall Guys. Make it happen, Chargers!

Twitter reacts to TimTheTatman finally winning a game of Fall Guys

He did it!

If you were wondering why “HE DID IT!” was trending on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, it’s because Twitch streamer Tim The Tatman finally won a game of Fall Guys with more than 300,000 viewers watching. If you have no idea what any of that means, allow me to explain.

Fall Guys is a smash hit battle royale style platformer video game, where 60 people compete to be the last adorable little character standing. Imagine you’re controlling a character through the TV Series Wipeout, and you have Fall Guys. It’s a game anyone can play, and it’s hugely addicting to try to earn the elusive crown for winning a round.

Twitch star TimTheTatman started playing Fall Guys last week and endured day after day of failures. Whenever he came close to a victory, he would inevitably be one of the final players eliminated. Within days, TimTheTatman losing in Fall Guys became a Twitch meme.

On Wednesday, TimTheTatman finally picked up his first W, and Twitter celebrated.
