Kenny Pickett really had to do it to ’em.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young may have sealed the Heisman Trophy with his record-breaking performance in an SEC Championship win over Georgia, but the Pittsburgh quarterback made a statement of his own on Pittsburgh’s opening drive of the ACC Championship Game against Wake Forest.
On third-and-five from the Panthers’ own 42, Pickett evaded a would-be tackler in the backfield before exploding downfield. He may have been tackled short of paydirt, but an absolutely filthy fake slide fooled the entire secondary as Pickett went 58 yards to score the game’s first points.
Just watch this.

Incredible stuff.
It’s been a fantastic season for Pickett, who ranks fifth in the FBS in passing yards 4,066 yards and tied for second in touchdowns with 40. He also has 21 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground in 2021. Pickett could find himself on the stage next weekend in New York for the Heisman presentation, and in a fairly weak quarterback class, he could be one of the top passing prospects available in the 2022 NFL draft.
We’ll see what other tricks Pickett has up his sleeve as Pittsburgh tries to win its first outright conference title in program history.
