Bellator is back in London this week with one of its superstars atop the bill.

Bellator Europe 6 takes place Saturday at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London. The card streams on MMA Junkie.

(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)

In the main event, [autotag]Michael Page[/autotag] (15-1 MMA, 11-1 BMMA) takes on short-notice replacement [autotag]Giovanni Melillo[/autotag] (13-4 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a welterweight bout. Page is a massive favorite of as much as 22-1 at one sports book, and to no surprise, 12 of our 13 MMA Junkie editors, writers, radio hosts and videographers are picking him to win in front of his home fans.

In the middleweight co-main event, [autotag]Fabian Edwards[/autotag] (8-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) is more than a 3-1 favorite against [autotag]Mike Shipman[/autotag] (13-2 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) in a fight that saw bad blood boil to the surface at the weigh-ins. Only one of our pickers is taking Shipman in an upset.

And to open the main card, [autotag]Soren Bak[/autotag] (13-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) takes on [autotag]Terry Brazier[/autotag] (11-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) in a lightweight fight that is a close one with the oddsmakers. Bak is just a slight favorite, but our pickers are taking him at a heavy 11-2 clip.

In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Page (94%), Edwards (73 percent) and Bak (77 percent) are the choices.

Bellator Europe 6 ceremonial weigh-in video highlights: ‘MVP’ upstaged by Edwards-Shipman scuffle

If the Bellator Europe 6 co-main event was flying under the radar before Friday, maybe people will pay attention now.

LONDON – If the Bellator Europe 6 co-main event was flying under the radar before Friday, maybe people will pay attention now.

The weigh-ins are in the books for Saturday’s event, which takes place at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London. The card streams on MMA Junkie. And at Friday’s ceremonial weigh-ins, things got pretty heated between a pair of middleweights.

[autotag]Fabian Edwards[/autotag] (8-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) and [autotag]Mike Shipman[/autotag] (13-2 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) had to be separated when punches were thrown during their faceoff. You can check out the madness in the video above.

That video also includes the event’s welterweight headliners, [autotag]Michael Page[/autotag] (15-1 MMA, 11-1 BMMA) and [autotag]Giovanni Melillo[/autotag] (13-4 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), as well as [autotag]Soren Bak[/autotag] (13-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) vs. [autotag]Terry Brazier[/autotag] (11-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) and [autotag]Denise Kielholtz[/autotag] (3-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) vs. [autotag]Sabriye Sengul[/autotag] (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA).

Tempers flare as Fabian Edwards and Mike Shipman clash at Bellator Europe 6 weigh-ins

British middleweight rivals Fabian Edwards and Mike Shipman clashed during the ceremonial weigh-ins ahead of Bellator Europe 6 in London.

LONDON – The simmering tension between British middleweight rivals [autotag]Fabian Edwards[/autotag] and [autotag]Mike Shipman[/autotag] finally boiled over at the ceremonial weigh-ins ahead of Saturday night’s fights at Bellator Europe 6.

After an early-morning weigh-in session that saw all 36 fighters successfully make weight for their respective matchups, the fighters rehydrated, then returned to the weigh-in room for their final faceoffs before this weekend’s event.

And while most of the fighters faced off in relatively amicable manner, the two-rival middleweights set for action in the night’s co-main event weren’t content with a simple staring contest.

After Edwards stood up to Shipman and accused the London Shootfighters man of flinching, the pair engaged in a verbal exchange before the pair then raised their hands and a scuffle ensued.

Thankfully, members of both teams were on hand to drag their respective athletes away from further drama, with even main event star [autotag]Michael Page[/autotag] diving in to take issue with Edwards’ team.

You can check out the footage of the incident via the video player above.

The two English middleweights have held a long-standing rivalry since their days with British promotion BAMMA, though they never actually met inside the cage. Now that’s all about to change, and it seems the pair couldn’t wait until fight night to get their hands on each other.

4 burning questions heading into Bellator Europe 6

What should fans look out for as Bellator returns to London on Nov. 23? We share our burning questions ahead of the event.

The Bellator cage makes its regular stop in London, England on Saturday, Nov. 23 as the SSE Arena at Wembley plays host to the promotion’s second visit of 2019 for Bellator Europe 6.

Headlining the card is one of the most talented athletes to come from English shores, as welterweight superstar [autotag]Michael Page[/autotag] looks to put on a show for his hometown crowd. But “MVP” is just the cherry on top of a cake packed with British MMA flavor, with a host of domestic stars set for action throughout a deep fight card that looks set to produce plenty of fireworks in the capital.

Here are our four big burning questions ahead of Bellator Europe 6 on Saturday night:

What does MVP have in store for the London crowd this time?

You could argue that there’s even more pressure on “MVP” now after he lost his original dance partner and now faces a largely unheralded short-notice opponent.

Page (15-1 MMA, 11-1 BMMA) was all set to face off against Derek Anderson in England, but after “Barbaric” suffered injury complications during training camp, he was pulled from the fight, leaving Bellator matchmaker Jude Samuel with a late headache ahead of the event.

Italian [autotag]Gianni Melillo[/autotag] has signed to step in, and will face Page looking to score arguably the biggest Bellator shock of the year after losing two of his last three outings by first-round KO.

It means all eyes will be on “MVP” when he steps into the cage against Melillo (13-4 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), and the expectation on the Brit to deliver another highlight-reel moment will be through the SSE Arena roof, given the opponent he’s facing.

It’s the sort of challenge Page will almost certainly relish, as he looks to leave the fans with another “wow” moment to talk about on the Tube ride home, just like he did against Evangelista Santos two years ago.

Can he produce another magic “MVP” moment at Wembley?

Fabian Edwards eager to get his hands on Mike Shipman at Bellator Europe 6

There’s nothing fabricated about the rivalry between Bellator middleweights Fabian Edwards and Mike Shipman.

LONDON – There’s nothing fabricated about the rivalry between Bellator middleweights [autotag]Fabian Edwards[/autotag] and [autotag]Mike Shipman[/autotag].

The two fighters have beef since their regional scene days, and will finally get to square off against one another Saturday at Bellator Europe 6.

For those just tuning into the rivalry, Edwards (8-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) wants the public to know everything that’s been said has been authentic. Simply put: he really doesn’t like Shipman (13-2 MMA, 4-1 BMMA).

“It’s genuine dislike,” Edwards told MMA Junkie at Thursday’s Bellator London media day. “I’ve been wanting to get my hands on him, but Scott Coker was like, ‘If you put your hands on him, the fight’s off.’ So I was like, ‘The bossman says no, so I’ll make sure to behave.’ It’s the dislike on my side.”

The present is as good of a time as any to take on his bitter rival, according to Edwards. However, Edwards would have maybe liked to have faced Shipman before he suffered his first Bellator loss in June.

“I think the last London card would have been the right time, but even this one is the right time as well,” Edwards said. “Because he’s coming off a loss. He’s going up against a guy that he hates. And I hate him as well. So I know he’s going to be training the hardest he’s ever trained.

“Co-main event in his hometown against someone he dislikes – that’s the Shipman that I want. The Shipman I’m going to beat. The guy who I’ve been training for as hard as ever. That excites me.”

[lawrence-related id=464726,464664]

Asked what his message is to his opponent, Edwards said the eyes tell all. He wants Shipman to think about what he saw in Edwards’ eyes during their staredown Thursday.

“The message is when we were in the head-to-head and we looked eyes to eyes, what did you see in my eyes?” Edwards said. “Because I know what was in my eyes. So what did you see in my eyes? That’s the message. On Saturday night, he’ll see what it was on Saturday night. That’s the message.”

Bellator Europe 6 takes place Saturday at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London. The card streams on MMA Junkie.

Mike Shipman plans to end Fabian Edwards’ ‘promotional push’ at Bellator Europe 6

Mike Shipman is glad he didn’t accept Fabian Edwards’ callout two years ago, because now they get to fight at Bellator Europe 6.

LONDON – [autotag]Mike Shipman[/autotag] is glad he didn’t accept [autotag]Fabian Edwards[/autotag]’ callout two years ago, because now they get to fight on a much bigger platform at Bellator Europe 6.

“I think this is the right time,” Shipman told MMA Junkie at Bellator Europe 6 media day. “When he was first opening his mouth I didn’t know who he was. He was 3-0. Now he’s got a good promotional push, people know who he is. This wouldn’t have been a co-main event type of fight a couple of years ago. It is now. So I would say it is the perfect time for this fight.”

Shipman (13-2 MMA, 4-1 BMMA), who meets Edwards (8-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) on Saturday’s card, which takes place at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London and streams on MMA Junkie, made a valid argument about the stakes of the matchup. The middleweight pairing is crucial to the landscape of Bellator’s middleweight division.

[lawrence-related id=464664]

After putting together four straight wins to begin his Bellator tenure, Shipman suffered a loss to Costello van Steenis in June. Now Edwards is the one on the rise with a Bellator winning streak, and it’s Shipman’s job to end it.

Shipman said he’s “too physical” for Edwards and is unlike anyone his fellow Brit has shared the cage with thus far. He knows Edwards, who is the younger brother of UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards, has hype behind him, though, so a win at Bellator Europe 6 is valuable.

“I’m coming off that loss to Costello, so I feel like my foot slipped off the ladder right now, but this is my opportunity to put it straight back on there and I’m back on my climb towards the title,” Shipman said. “A dominant win over Fabian, who is getting so much attention, so much push from the company, that’s really going to put me back in the picture.”
