Alabama pitcher Evan Chaffee transferring to St. John’s

Alabama pitcher Evan Chaffee announced that he was transferring to St. John’s on Monday via his Twitter account. Chaffee spent just one season in Tuscaloosa.

As a new era begins in Tuscaloosa under newly-hired head coach Rob Vaughn, another one starts for former Alabama pitcher Evan Chaffee. The New York native announced that he was transferring to St. John’s on Monday via Twitter.

Coming out of high school, Chaffee was ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the state of New York by Prep Baseball Report. He was also ranked as the No. 7 left-handed pitcher in the country by Perfect Game USA.

His success at the high school level did not translate to the college level, however. Chaffee did not make an appearance on the mound for the Crimson Tide.

Following the conclusion of the season, Chaffee entered his name into the transfer portal.

Now, he will be joining a St. John’s squad that finished the season with a 28-25 record and failed to reach the Big East Tournament. It will be interesting to see how Chaffee fairs in the Big East for the Red Storm.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program and its involvement in the transfer portal.
