PSU football 2023 player profile: WR Ethan Black

Here’s a look at Penn State 2023 preferred walk-on wide receiver Ethan Black.

As we are just a little over a month into the college football offseason, James Franklin has been busy on the recruiting trail.

The Nittany Lions have a talented 2023 class coming in.

One notable position worth mentioning is wide receiver.

Penn State will be without both Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley next season, as they depart for the NFL.

That means other players like KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Kaden Saunders are next in line to step up in their wide receiver room.

Saunders is a talented pass-catcher that Franklin had praise for before his freshmen season began at State College.

On top of that, the Nittany Lions have a receiver room that is full of youth for quarterback Drew Allar.

They also have a few preferred walk-ons coming in next season. One of them is at their wide receiver position.

That is Pennsylvania native Ethan Black.

Let’s take a deeper look into his recruiting profile.

Penn State’s 2023 football commitment tracker

The Penn State football Class of 2023 commitment tracker has been updated with the latest recruiting development

The Class of 2022 was great for Penn State, but it’s already time to turn the page toward the Class of 2023. And James Franklin and the Nittany Lions already had a few commitments on the board for the Class of 2023 as the signed letters of intent were coming in for the Class of 2022.

We’ll be keeping track of every commitment that goes on the board for Penn State in the Class of 2023. But knowing that odds are pretty good at least one player will have a change of heart somewhere along the recruiting process, we’ll keep tabs on what they are doing up until signing day.

This tracker will be updated accordingly when needed. It was last updated on February 1, 2023.

Penn State adds another preferred walk-on to Class of 2023

Penn State picks up another preferred walk-on player for the Class of 2023.

Penn State continues to add pieces to its Class of 2023 with another preferred walk-on commitment on the books on Wednesday, Wide receiver [autotag]Ethan Black[/autotag], from Davidsville, PA, announced he has committed to Penn State.

“I am blessed to announce that I have committed to Penn State University where I will be furthering my academic and athletic career,” Black said in a message posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday evening. “I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for supporting me.”

Black measures 5-10 and 160 pounds. Black reportedly committed to Penn State over a pair of Ivy League options in Princeton and Dartmouth.

It is expected that Black will be used on special teams upon his arrival on campus, which is typical for a preferred walk-on player.

Black joins running back David Kency Jr. as Penn State’s second preferred walk-on player in the Class of 2023. Penn State is still hoping to add to the recruiting class with a signing day announcement looming for four-star offensive line target [autotag]Chimdy Onoh[/autotag] out of Maryland.
