Report: Titans trading LB Ernest Jones IV to Seahawks

The Tennessee Titans made a second trade on Wednesday sending starting LB Ernest Jones to the Seahawks.

The Tennessee Titans appear to be waving the white flag on the 2024 season. Hours after word broke that the team was trading away WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, word of a second trade came out.

According to multiple sources, the Titans are trading LB Ernest Jones IV to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for LB Jerome Baker and a fourth-round selection in the NFL draft.

It’s an interesting move coming just months after the Titans acquired Jones from the Los Angeles Rams prior to the start of the 2024 season. In the trade, the Titans received Jones and a 2026 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round selection.

Jones has been a tremendous addition to the Titans’ defense and has fit seamlessly into defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson’s unit. Jones started five games, making 44 tackles (29 solo) during his short stint with the Titans.

The move signals that Jones, who is in the final year of his contract, was not going to be part of the plan moving forward. The team drafted Cedric Gray, who could be activated to the 53-man roster this week, in the 2024 NFL draft and have now gained some extra draft capital to assist in their rebuild.

With the Titans entering fire sale territory, more moves will likely be on the horizon. Check back for any and all updates.

Seahawks trade Jerome Baker to Titans for LB Ernest Jones IV

Seahawks trade Jerome Baker to Titans for LB Ernest Jones IV

The Seattle Seahawks had a considerable need at linebacker, and it looks like they got the help they needed. On Wednesday morning, the Seahawks traded away linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth round pick to the Tennessee Titans to acquire linebacker Ernest Jones IV.

Jones, a former Los Angeles Ram, returns to the NFC West to help his former division rival stay in first place.

Linebacker was a position the Seahawks decided to revamp this offseason with a pair of veterans on one-year deals, one of which was Jerome Baker. The decision to do so was not panning out the way Seattle had hoped. Baker was making very little impact on the field, only recording 17 solo tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in the Giants game.

Jones presents a clear upgrade at the position. Originally drafted by the Rams in 2021, he spent the first three years of his career in the City of Angels – including helping them win Super Bowl LVI. Last year, he recorded a career-best 145 tackles. This summer, he was traded to the Titans. Now, he has been traded once more, and returning to the west coast.

Jones is on the final year of his rookie contract and will be a free agent following the conclusion of this season, which is what would have been the case for Jerome Baker.

Titans’ Ernest Jones IV named NFLPA Community MVP of the Week

Titans’ linebacker Ernest Jones IV was named the NFLPA’s Community MVP of the week after providing meals to those affected by Hurricane Helene.

Ernest Jones IV joined the Tennessee Titans this year via a trade with the Los Angeles Rams. Jones has been an integral part of Dennard Wilson’s defense, but this week, we are discussing his off-field actions. Jones provided 400 meals to those in his hometown impacted by Hurricane Helene, leading him to be named the NFL Player’s Association Community MVP for Week 6.

“The storm hit us pretty bad,” Jones said on Thursday. “I had free time and was like, ‘Let’s give out some free food.'”

“It’s just a blessing to be a blessing, honestly. Everyone was super excited. I don’t get to go back home for a lot of the events I do have, so everyone was excited to see me. It was a good time.”

This isn’t the first time Jones has given back to his hometown of Waycross, Georgia. For the past two years, he has hosted Back-to-School giveaways to ensure that kids have the backpacks and supplies they need for the school year. And this won’t be the last time we see Jones giving back, either.

“It was just good to be able to uplift the community,” Jones said. “I said if I was ever blessed with that opportunity, I would do that.”

He’s holding true to his word, and the Titans are lucky to have a player like Jones among its ranks.[lawrence-related id=151820,151808,151778]
