UFC Fight Night 195 video: Jim Miller climbs all-time wins list with first KO since UFC 200

Jim Miller recorded his 22nd UFC victory on Saturday with a brutal knockout of Erick Gonzalez at UFC Fight Night 195.

[autotag]Jim Miller[/autotag] continued his climb up the UFC’s all-time wins list Saturday with a brutal knockout of [autotag]Erick Gonzalez[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night 196.

Gonzalez (14-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) entered his first octagon appearance at the biggest experience disadvantage in history. Miller (33-16 MMA, 22-15 UFC) was competing in his record 38th fight with the promotion, and it proved to be a difference in a second-round knockout victory.

The lightweight bout was part of the UFC Fight Night 195 main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It streamed on ESPN+.

Gonzalez came out of the gate strong in the first round, getting in top position and hurting Miller with a couple of good punches. Miller showed his veteran savvy, though, tying up his opponent and slowing the action down through the first fight minutes.

Miller came unleashed early in the second round, though. In the first exchange, he connected with a hellacious left hand that instantly slumped Gonzalez to the canvas. The fight was stopped at the 0:14 mark of the round, giving Miller his first knockout since UFC 200 in July 2016.

The victory marked Miller’s 22nd triumphant performance in the octagon. That puts him into a tie for second most wins in UFC history behind Donald Cerrone (24).

“Old dog, new tricks,” Miller said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “Got the KO.”

UFC Fight Night 195: Jim Miller vs. Erick Gonzalez odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 195 odds and lines between Jim Miller vs. Erick Gonzalez, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a lightweight bout on the main card, Jim Miller meets Erick Gonzalez Saturday at UFC Fight Night 195 – also known as UFC Vegas 40 and UFC on ESPN+ 53 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC Fight Night 195 Miller vs. Gonzalez odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims at 4:30 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

The 38-year-old Miller has dropped back-to-back fights via unanimous decision, including last time out April 10 against Joe Solecki. He has won just four of his last 12 fights, with each of the victories coming by way of submission.

Gonzalez, nine years younger than the veteran Miller, is making his UFC debut. “The Ghost Pepper” has finished inside the distance in 11 of his 19 professional fights. He is a perfect 8-0 via TKO/KO, but just 1-2 by way of submission, so he’ll want to avoid the canvas against the wily veteran.

UFC Fight Night 195 Miller vs. Gonzalez: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Miller (32-16-0) | Gonzalez (14-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Miller (-270) is a little too expensive, costing more than two and a half times your potential return. Instead, get a little more specific instead.

Miller isn’t about the knockout, so you can avoid that – his last KO/TKO win came in 2016 at UFC 200. He also isn’t about the decision as the last time he won on points by the judges was also in 2016 at UFC 205. If you like the veteran, you have to play MILLER BY SUBMISSION (+210) on Method of Victory for a chance to more than double up.

Over/Under (O/U)

NO (+105): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is a good play since I expect a finish from the veteran.

In addition, playing a two-round block to win is a good idea. MILLER TO WIN IN ROUND 2 (+570) and MILLER TO WIN IN ROUND 3 (+1000) will cause you to lose one end even if he wins in Rounds 2-3. However, you’ll still be quite a bit ahead.

Jim Miller vs. Erick Gonzalez in the works for UFC Fight Night 195 on Oct. 16

Erick Gonzalez has finally gotten his long desired UFC call and will face Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 195.

[autotag]Erick Gonzalez[/autotag] has finally received his long-desired UFC call.

Gonzalez (14-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will face [autotag]Jim Miller[/autotag] (32-16 MMA, 21-15 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 195, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Oct. 16. MMA Junkie confirmed with sources close to the matchup that verbal agreements are in place.

Winner of four of his past five, Gonzalez has competed for the majority of his career under the Combate Americas banner. The 29-year-old is coming off back-to-back wins – a finish over Oziel Rodriguez in March and a unanimous decision over Samuel Alvarez in August. Gonzalez has called for a “dream fight” against Donald Cerrone on multiple occasions and although he didn’t get his wish, he still got the call to the octagon to face another legend in Miller.

Scheduled to make his 38th walk to the octagon, Miller will look to snap a two-fight losing skid. He is coming off back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Vinc Pichel and Joe Solecki, with his last win coming in the form of a first-round “Performance of the Night” submission of Roosevelt Roberts in June 2020. Miller was scheduled to square off with Nikolas Motta at UFC Fight Night 192 on Sept. 18, but for the first time in his career, he had to pull out of the fight after testing positive for COVID-19.

With the addition, the current lineup for UFC Fight Night 195 includes:

  • Norma Dumont vs. Holly Holm
  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Carlos Felipe
  • Julian Marquez vs. Jordan Wright
  • Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Da Un Jung
  • L’udovit Klein vs. Nate Landwehr
  • Luana Carolina vs. Maryna Moroz
  • Ariane Carnelossi vs. Istela Nunes
  • Andrew Sanchez vs. Bruno Silva
  • Marcelo Rojo vs. TBA
  • Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Manon Fiorot
  • Ramazan Emeev vs. Danny Roberts
  • Danaa Batgerel vs. Brandon Davis
  • Erick Gonzalez vs. Jim Miller
