UNC head baseball coach Scott Forbes invites famous music star to College World Series

Eric Church is arguably the biggest Tar Heels fan in the music industry. Head UNC baseball coach Scott Forbes wants him in Omaha for the College World Series.

The UNC baseball team is that much closer to the College World Series.

North Carolina coaches and players boarded a plane for Omaha on Tuesday, June 11, ready to chase their first CWS title in program history. Diamond Heel fans lined the Boshamer Stadium concourse, sending their favorite players and coaches off in style.

UNC endured adversity throughout the Chapel Hill Regional and Super Regionals, coming back late multiple time to win and advance. If it weren’t for the combination of Alex Madera, Colby Wilkerson and Vance Honeycutt, there would be no trip to Nebraska.

You can bet that thousands of North Carolina fans will be flying and driving to Omaha, as the Diamond Heels haven’t been in the CWS since 2018. It’s summer vacation, kids are out of school and parents – while working – deserve a little break from everyday life.

There’s one pretty famous fan, in particular, that UNC head coach Scott Forbes is trying to recruit to Nebraska – longtime Tar Heels fan Eric Church, the country singer with seven solo Number One singles.

Church graduated from Appalachian State in Boone, NC, but grew up in the small North Carolina town of Granite Falls.

If you listen to country music, you know that Church’s name is all over the industry. He just recently opened up his own bar, Chief’s on Broadway in Nashville (Tenn.).

If you don’t listen to country, but recognize Church’s name through sports, he caught attention for cancelling his concert to see North Carolina’s 2022 Final Four run.

Eric, this is our call to you, too.

Why don’t you join the Diamond Heels for their record year?

LOOK: Eric Church supports Tez Walker pregame

Country music star Eric Church supports Tez Walker ahead of the UNC football game against South Carolina.

The biggest story ahead of North Carolina’s season opener against South Carolina was the status of wide receiver Tez Walker. He was ruled ineligible by the NCAA in early August and filed an appeal.

However, the NCAA did not rule on the appeal, making Walker ineligible for the season opener, a big loss for the Tar Heels. It became an even bigger loss when fellow transfer Nate McCollum was also ruled out due to an injury.

All week long UNC fans have supported Walker as have college football analysts across the country. And now, a country music star is doing the same.

Noted North Carolina fan Eric Church was an honorary captain for Saturday’s game and wore a Walker jersey at the coinflip:

That’s a pretty awesome gesture by Church to do that for Walker and shows just how silly the whole situation is with the NCAA.

The hope for UNC is that they get Walker back sooner than later for this season and that he can eventually play.

Eric Church fans are rightfully furious after he canceled a San Antonio concert to watch Duke – North Carolina

Yes, this really happened.

A lot of college hoops fans probably didn’t expect to see North Carolina in the Final Four of the men’s NCAA tournament.

But there the No. 8-seeded Tar Heels are, getting ready to play their rival Duke in what could be Mike Krzyzewski’s final game if UNC wins.

Country star Eric Church might have been one of those fans, because he had a concert planned for Saturday night in San Antonio. That is, until he canceled it, because he’s going to cheer on North Carolina.

Church canceled the concert, and fans were rightfully furious. Let’s run through this whole thing, because that’s just WILD.
