Josh Heupel has received his first commitment as Tennessee’s head coach for the Vols’ 2022 recruiting class.
He was hired on Jan. 27 after serving in the same capacity at UCF from 2018-20.
2022 linebacker Elijah Herring announced his commitment to the Vols on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound outside linebacker is from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Herring was initially offered by Tennessee on June 12, 2019 under the Vols’ previous head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
He has Power Five offers from Tennessee, Arizona State, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
