Xbox boss implies that Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be on PS5

The highly-anticipated sequel is likely exclusive to Xbox.

The Elder Scrolls 6  might be years away still but it’s probably not coming to the PS5 at all. At least that’s what Phil Spencer, head executive of Microsoft’s Xbox division, seems to be suggesting.

During an interview with GQ, Spencer spoke about Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda Games Studios and whether or not Elder Scrolls 6  will follow Starfield’s  lead  as an Xbox and PC exclusive.

“It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” Spencer said  via GQ. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls 6. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”

It’s not exactly a surprise, given that Microsoft now owns Bethesda Games Studios, even if it is a massive bummer for PlayStation owners. Guess this means Elder Scrolls 6  won’t make the PS5’s most popular list either

You never know what might change, though. Elder Scrolls 6  is still so far from a release date that Spencer barely hints about what to expect from it.

“I do this weird exercise that I like,” Spencer said via GQ. “You go back and you read a review of the first Elder Scrolls. And then you read The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion’s, then you read The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s. You black out a couple things. And they read the same. ‘You’ve stepped out and oh my gosh, it feels so real.’ People change. Technology changes. But the ultimate goal is still to make it so that, when you boot the game up, you feel like you’ve been transported.”

Maybe someday we’ll get an actual trailer for Elder Scrolls 6. Until then, we’ll have to settle for Todd Howard’s son asking for more details by way of a Father’s Day card.

‘Skyrim’ director roasted by his son’s Father’s Day card asking for ‘Elder Scrolls 6’

Even Todd Howard’s son wants more Elder Scrolls!

Todd Howard, the director of Skyrim, revealed that his son asked for Elder Scrolls 6  in a Father’s Day card this year.

Over on Reddit, Howard did an ask me anything post about Bethesda Game Studios. Of course, Elder Scrolls 6  was the first thing on everyone’s mind, so naturally, a user asked for a status update on the much-desired follow-up to  Skyrim. Howard didn’t share any details on the game, but he did talk about when his son roasted him over it.

“We know it’s a long wait, we’re with you,” Howard said on Reddit. “For Father’s Day this year my son gave me a card that said, ‘You’re an amazing Dad, but where’s [Elder Scrolls 6]?”

They say Howard may never recover from this mauling. Goodness, gracious, where are the ice packs at?!

Howard went on to reveal some other neat tidbits about Bethesda’s past and current projects. Like how if the company had not acquired the rights to Fallout, the development team would make an original post-apocalyptic series called Apocalypse Road.

Much like Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda’s Fallout 5 is many years away too. Maybe Howard’s son will ask about it during Father’s Day next year.
