The Oilers won their 4th straight game Thursday, edging out the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 as +101 road underdogs with the Over (6.5) hitting. Oilers at Canucks projected goalies
Stuart Skinner (18-9-3, 2.69 GAA, .902 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (2-3-3, 3.39 GAA, .872 SV%)
Skinner improved to 4-1 in January with Thursday’s win at the Avalanche, saving 22 of 25 shots, which followed a 30-save shutout at home vs. the Kings. He was the winning goalie in the November meeting vs. the Canucks when he stopped 17 of 20 shots
Demko took the loss in his last start, allowing 5 goals on 21 shots to the Kings Thursday. He’s 0-2 with a 3.29 GAA (45 saves against 53 shots) and .849 SV% in 3 January starts. Demko did win the last time he faced the Oilers, stopping 41 of 43 shots in a 6-2 home victory in November, 2023.

Oilers at Canucks picks and predictions
Prediction
Oilers 5, Canucks 2
Moneyline
PASS.
Edmonton (-175) will win and easily cover the puck line, which is why I’ll take my wager there.
Puck line/Against the spread
BET OILERS -1.5 (+145).
As mentioned above, look for Edmonton to win by several goals. The Oilers have won 8 of their last 10, while the Canucks have lost 8 of their last 10, including 3 in overtime.
Edmonton has won 4 of the last 5 head-to-head matchups, including the last 2 in Vancouver, and covered the puck line in 2 of the last 3 vs. Vancouver.
The Oilers have scored 3 or more goals in 16 of their last 17 games, while the Canucks have struggled, scoring 1 or fewer goals in 4 of their last 5.
With all the signs pointing to Edmonton, this one feels like a safe bet.
Over/Under
I’m leaning toward the Over, but it’s not strong enough to recommend it. The Over/Under is 5-4-1 in their last 10 Edmonton-Vancouver matchups, and it’s 5-5 in both teams’ last 10 games. I see the Oilers will scoring 3 to 5 goals, but I’m not sure if the Canucks can score 2.
Because of that, I’ll PASS on a total bet.
