Alabama Football History: The top 20 all-time leading rushers

Check out the all-time leading rushers in Alabama Football history!

Alabama has been able to stay at the top of college football for so long because of the program’s ability to adapt. One thing, though, has remained the same over decades of Crimson Tide football: a strong run game.

Former Alabama running backs regularly find their way into the NFL and cement themselves as some of the greatest to do it.

The Crimson Tide program currently has four Heisman trophies in the trophy case, two of them came in back-to-back years just recently with quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young [/autotag]and wide receiver [autotag]DeVonta Smith[/autotag]. However, before them Alabama only had two, and they belonged to running backs [autotag]Derrick Henry[/autotag] and [autotag]Mark Ingram[/autotag].

We break down the top 20 passers in Crimson Tide history. A group that includes a Heisman recipient, a handful of first-round draft selections and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The 9 worst free agent signings in the John Schneider era

The Seattle Seahawks have had a lot of success under general manager John Schneider, but he has made his fair share of mistakes as well.

The Seattle Seahawks, under general manager John Schneider, built a near-dynasty in the early part of the decade thanks to a handful of excellent, career-defining draft selections – including Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas – all who well outperformed their draft spot.

Schneider also proved capable of making excellent trades to help the team, including acquiring Marshawn Lynch back in 2010 and more recent trades for Jadeveon Clowney and Quandre Diggs.

Perhaps Schneider’s biggest area of weakness is on the free agent market. Despite excellent, under the radar signings like Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Bradley McDougald and the undrafted addition of Doug Baldwin, the Seahawks have also dished out a handful of ugly deals that, at times, hampered the franchise’s bottom line while hurting the product on the field.

Here is a look at the nine worst free agent signings during Schneider’s tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, starting with a few who just missed the cut:

CB Jamar Taylor (2019)

CB Byron Maxwell (2018)

K Sebastian Janikowski (2018)

Eddie Lacy not expected to attempt an NFL comeback

Former Alabama standout running back Eddie Lacy seemed to be ready to take over the NFL after being drafted in the second round of the 20…

Former Alabama standout running back Eddie Lacy seemed to be ready to take over the NFL after being drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, but that sentiment was quickly shot down after the 2015 season.

Lacy was out of contention for a starting role after he had gained a noticeable amount of weight, which the internet did not let him live down as he became more of a meme than a professional football player.

In fact, Lacy’s weight became such an issue ESPN reported that there was an incentive bonus with almost $400,000 that he could earn if he was able to reach his goal weight.

In his first two seasons in the NFL the Crimson Tide product rushed for over 3,000 yards. However, his last two seasons in the league only amounted to 539 yards. A steep decline for the three-time collegiate national champion.

After playing nine games for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 Lacy hasn’t seen the field. Since then, the running back has been relatively quiet.

The silence was broken in 2019 as Pro Football Talk reported that Lacy worked out for the Baltimore Ravens on Apr. 5. The details of the workout have not been released, but he was never signed to a deal.

A quote given by Lacy’s agent, Patrick Dye Jr. of Sportstrust, to Roll Tide Wire states:

“At this time, I do not anticipate Eddie resuming his NFL career.”

Lacy will forever be remembered as a young star in the NFL and as one of the top running backs to ever play at Alabama in the Nick Saban era.
