It’s one of those players you hope to never have to see on the field, but when you have a good one, it can definitely pay dividends.
Dan Lanning and his staff were able to get a commitment from junior college punter Ross James to the 2022 roster. The Ducks found the 6-foot-2 kicker in Decatur, Miss. where he punted for East Central Community College.
In his one season with the Warriors, James averaged 40.5 yards a punt and put 21 of his 62 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Oregon needed to find someone to fill the position as Tom Snee was the Ducks’ only punter on the roster before he announced he would be transferring out of the program.
