DWCS 58 winner Hyder Amil hopes to face Arnold Allen someday as ‘payback’ for Gilbert Melendez

Hyder Amil seeks the opportunity to avenge Gilbert Melendez’s loss to Arnold Allen.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Hyder Amil[/autotag] seeks the opportunity to avenge [autotag]Gilbert Melendez[/autotag]’s loss to [autotag]Arnold Allen[/autotag].

Amil (8-0) earned a UFC contract Tuesday at Dana White’s Contender Series 58 when he defeated Emrah Sonmez (14-5) by unanimous decision.

An El Nino Training Center fighter, Amil knows he still has ways to go, but hopes to climb the ranks someday and face top featherweight contender Allen, who’s the last man to defeat his mentor Melendez.

“Give me one or two fights, and then I want Arnold Allen,” Amil told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “I want payback.”

Amil remained unbeaten, but was disappointed not to get the finish.

“I’m going to finish the next guy, OK?” Amil said. “And my next fight, I’m really going to put on a show and that’s not happening again.”

Amil admits he was nervous that his performance wasn’t enough to earn him a contract, but was grateful that White recognized his talent.

“If you’ve seen my other fights, I put on a show every fight,” Amil said. “I usually finish people and stuff like that, so going forward, expect more from me, expect me to start putting on some shows and finishing people.”

DWCS 58 winner Eduarda Moura hopes to share UFC Sao Paulo card with teammate Jailton Almeida

Eduarda Moura wants on the UFC’s return to Brazil after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series 58.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Eduarda Moura[/autotag] wants on the UFC’s return to Brazil after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series 58.

Undefeated Brazilian Moura (9-0) submitted Janaina Silva (5-1) in the first round on Tuesday. In attendance was her teammate, [autotag]Jailton Almeida[/autotag], who meets Curtis Blaydes in a UFC Fight Night main event Nov. 4 in Sao Paulo.

Ideally, Moura wants to share the card with Almeida.

“Sao Paulo, obviously,” Moura told MMA Junkie and other reporters through an interpreter. “Dana, Sean (Shelby), put me to fight in Sao Paulo, I really want to fight with that guy over there, my training partner, Jailton Almeida, who I admire so much. I love that man, and I would love to fight with him.”

Moura was very grateful to have fellow Contender Series graduate Almeida come watch her fight at the UFC Apex and heaped praise on her teammate for showing her so much support.

“I’m his fan. I just love his humility, his work ethic. I just love what he’s doing right now,” Moura said. “Everyone admires him in the gym. He’s a brother to me, he’s always around, we just love what he’s doing, and everyone in the gym loves him. He didn’t need to be here, and he’s here right now. I love this guy.”

Moura has competed at both strawweight and flyweight throughout her career, so she has her eyes on both divisions. The 29-year-old finisher didn’t make a callout for the Sao Paulo card, but has various names in mind.

“I have been looking at the names,” Moura said. “I’ve been looking at the names, I’ve been studying the division – not just strawweight, but also flyweight. Looking at the names, and I have a little notepad there with some names.”

Ibo Aslan, Paulo Renato Jr. to fight for UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series

UFC hopefuls Ibo Aslan and Paulo Renato Jr. will fight for a potential contract on Dana White’s Contender Series this summer.

Two more light heavyweights will fight for a UFC contract this summer.

Brazil’s [autotag]Paulo Renato Jr.[/autotag] will get his second shot on Dana White’s Contender Series when he meets [autotag]Ibo Aslan[/autotag]. The bout is set for DWCS 58, the seventh season’s second episode, on Aug. 15 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion is yet to make an official announcement.

Turkey’s Aslan (11-1) had previously been targeted for DWCS, but the opportunity never materialized. He enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak and a 100 percent finishing rate. All of his career wins have come by knockout or TKO.

Renato (12-2) competed on DWCS, Season 6 in 2022 when he lost a unanimous decision to Jamal Pogues. The bout was at heavyweight. Since the fight, Renato is 2-0 with two first-round stoppages due to strikes.

With the addition, the DWCS 58 lineup includes:

Cage Warriors champ George Hardwick to face Fury FC champ Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady on Dana White’s Contender Series

The second week of Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 7 will feature a Cage Warriors champ vs. Fury FC champ showdown.

Cage Warriors lightweight champ [autotag]George Hardwick[/autotag] (12-1) meets Fury FC lightweight champ [autotag]Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady[/autotag] (14-3) at Dana White’s Contender Series 58 on Aug. 15. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after an initial report by MMA Mania.

Winner of his past eight, Hardwick has defended his lightweight title twice, most recently scoring a first-round TKO of Yann Liasse at Cage Warriors 152 in April. The 26-year-old has stopped his past six opponents.

Al-Selwady, a former BRAVE FC lightweight champ, captured the Fury FC 155-pound title in his past outing when he defeated Michael Murphy by unanimous decision in February. The Fortis MMA fighter has won four straight.

With the addition, the DWCS 58 lineup includes:
