See the 3 universities Cooper Flagg has scheduled visits for this fall

Cooper Flagg is taking his first official visit to reigning NCAA Men’s Basketball Champion UConn this weekend, according to On3.

Cooper Flagg, widely considered the top high school player in the nation, is making moves to realize his college decision. He has three scheduled visits this fall, according to a new report from On3, and the first one will be this weekend.

The 6-foot-9, 195-pound forward will visit reigning NCAA men’s basketball champion UConn this weekend, according to the outlet. The Huskies are hoping for yet another victory this year, and adding Flagg to their class of 2024 that already includes a pair of four-star players in Ahman Nowell and Isaiah Abraham would would raise their potential to stay atop once the class arrives.

Their not the only recent champion seeking the services of Flagg. The 2022 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks are also in pursuit and have a visit scheduled from Oct. 6-8, according to On3.

Kansas already has one top-tier commit in the class of 2024 in Flory Bidunga, a five-star center ranked No. 8 in the class.

Flagg rounds out his early-year visits with Duke, which he will visit from Oct. 20-22, according to On3. The Blue Devils already have a crazy good recruiting class in 2024, with a pair of five-star forwards in Isaiah Evans and Kon Knueppel and a four-star forward in Darren Harris. The Blue Devils will try to sell him on his fit with the group and amplify their star power even further.

While Flagg is taking his time to make visits and choose his next stop, he sped up the process considerably by reclassifying to the class of 2024 in August. He’ll get to see three programs over the next month and take another step toward his decision. These surely won’t be his only visits.

Duke MBB picks up 2nd 2023 commit, 4-star power forward Sean Stewart

With Sean Stewart’s commitment to Duke, the Blue Devils are the first program to lock down a five- and four-star commit in the 2023 class.

Duke men’s basketball’s 2022 class is looking insane, with three top-10 prospects signed, another five-star committed, a four-star shooting guard signed and a three-star center committed.

With those players locked down, the Blue Devils have started making moves on the 2023 front.

On Thursday, power forward Sean Stewart committed to Duke, making the program the first in the country to have received a commitment from both a five- and four-star recruit in the class of 2023.

Stewart, listed at 6-foot-8 and 210 pounds, is a four-star forward out of Windermere (Fla.) High School. He is ranked the fifth-best PF and the No. 33 player in the country on the 247Sports Composite.

Stewart told Sports Illustrated that he is excited for the positionless nature of head coach-to-be Jon Scheyer’s offense and that Duke legend Grant Hill is a family friend.

He chose the program over Stanford, Michigan, Georgetown, Ohio State, Kansas, Howard and Harvard, according to SI.

Duke’s class of 2023 is now made up of Stewart and five-star point guard Caleb Foster, an Oak Hill Academy (Mouth Of Wilson, Va.) star ranked No. 9 overall in the class.

The 2022 signees shows that the departure of Mike Krzyzewski is not affecting recruiting, and the early commits in the class of 2023 show that the program isn’t slowing down.

Duke win over Gonzaga convinced 5-star Mark Mitchell to commit to Blue Devils

Mark Mitchell committed to Duke, giving the Blue Devils yet another five-star recruit.

The major programs know it best: Sometimes, a win over another powerhouse isn’t simply a win. It can have ripple effects that span years.

Duke again found this to be the case with the 84-81 win over Gonzaga in late November acting as the pebble. Five-star Sunrise Christian (Wichita, Kan.) small forward Mark Mitchell saw the victory and knew he wanted to be part of the legacy of the program.

In his blog on Sports Illustrated, Mitchell wrote:

“Honestly, it was after the Gonzaga game that did it for me. Just seeing the atmosphere there and the energy the team played with was something I knew that I wanted to be a part of.”

Mitchell committed to Duke on Friday. He chose the Blue Devils over schools including UCLA and Missouri.

This gives Jon Scheyer another huge piece for his incoming class as he prepares to take the mantle of the program. Mitchell is ranked the fourth-best small forward and No. 15 player in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite.

He is the fourth five-star commit, joining an absurd group of center Dereck Lively II (No. 1 on the 247Sports Composite), small forward Dariq Whitehead (No. 4) and center Kyle Filipowski (No. 7). Somehow, four-star shooting guard Jaden Schutt (No. 55) is the lowest-ranked among the group.

Perhaps this group can play a game similar to that of Duke vs. Gonzaga, one that convinces the next crop of players that the Blue Devils are where they should be.
