Daniel Dubois took another step forward on the Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley card Sunday in Cleveland.
The Londoner stopped overmatched Joe Cusumano in the first round of a scheduled 12-round heavyweight bout, his second consecutive victory since he was knocked out by Joe Joyce in 10 rounds last November.
Dubois (17-1, 16 KOs) had to quit in that fight because of a broken left eye socket.
On Sunday, Dubois put the hurt on Cusumano (19-4, 17 KOs) from the opening bell. He put Cusumano down three times in a little more than two minutes, clear evidence that he had no business in the ring with someone at Dubois’ level.
Cusumano went down under a barrage of punches for the third knockdown, after which the referee stopped the fight. The official time of the stoppage
Dubois was making his U.S. debut.
