The Eagles are hoping to avoid having to play without one of the NFL’s top tight ends, as Zach Ertz works diligently to rehab from a hamstring injury. The Eagles will take a “cautious” approach with Ertz, who suffered the injury late in Philadelphia’s loss to the Seahawks.

“We’re going to get him on the grass today, run, see where he’s at, go through practice a little bit and then find out at the end of the day,” Pederson said. “But just wanted to kind of keep him cautious with him, keep him rested and keep him ready to go.”

“With that in mind, I just wanted to make sure he was 100 percent coming into this game.”

Pederson said Friday that Lane Johnson has been cleared for contact, while receivers Nelson Agholor (knee) and Alshon Jeffery (ankle) are trending in the right direction.

Running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) still hasn’t been cleared for contact yet.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been without running back Jordan Howard for two games now and it’s starting to look like his “stinger” could be even more serious than team officials thought.

During his Monday morning press conference, Doug Pederson indicated that Howard is working to regain strength in his injured shoulder.

Wentz looked lost at times, missing easy throws, holding the ball for too long and committing four costly turnovers as the Eagles fell to 5-6 on the season.

Wentz went 33 of 45, for 256 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while also suffering a hand injury that will need further evaluation. Even with the loss, the Eagles have a ton to play for.

With a Dallas loss to New England, the Eagles would still be a game out in the NFC, but Wentz has to play better for Philadelphia to have any shot at the playoffs.

Carson Wentz has disappointing outing as Eagles fall to 5-6 after 17-9 loss to Seahawks

Carson Wentz has a disappointing outing as Eagles fall to 5-6 after 17-9 loss to Seahawks

For the first time since becoming the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Carson Wentz looked lost as the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles during a bizarre outing against the Seattle Seahawks.

Wentz had four turnovers on the day and the Eagles offensive struggles continued as Philadelphia fell to 5-6 on the season after falling to the Seattle Seahawks 17-9.

The Eagles defense played well once again and did its part, holding their last 4 opponents to 17 points or less. Philadelphia got after Russell Wilson all afternoon, as the MVP candidate was 13-25, for 200 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Wentz played badly on Sunday, but he entered the game with most of his offensive weapons on the sidelines. The Eagles were shorthanded as right tackle Lane Johnson (concussion), running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) and wide receivers Alshon Jeffery (ankle) and Nelson Agholor (knee) were all inactive on Sunday.

Right guard Brandon Brooks (illness) left the game in the first quarter and was replaced by Halapoulivaati Vaitai.

Wentz finished the first half 10 for 16 for 62 yards and was 33 of 45, for 256 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. As a whole, the Eagles had five turnovers and looked out of sorts from the start.

The Birds will need to regroup as a trap-game against the Dolphins in Miami awaits next Sunday.
