Dorian Singer will have the same effect Jordan Addison had on USC’s offense and its other receivers

We talked to @MarkRogersTV at the @VoiceOfCFB about the domino effect Dorian Singer will have on #USC’s offense and receivers in 2023.

USC’s wide receiver room would have been really good in 2022 even without Jordan Addison. We saw this in the latter half of the season when Addison was hurt. Tahj Washington, Michael Jackson, and Kyle Ford all stepped up and made big plays with Addison and Mario Williams both hurt and unavailable (or at least at less than full strength). USC’s offense was able to carry on without Addison for certain periods of time. The depth of USC’s receiver group was considerable, and it showed.

That said, Addison made huge plays against UCLA and at other points in the 2022 season. He drew so much attention from opposing secondaries that Washington, Jackson, Ford, and the other USC receivers were able to get favorable matchups and situations. Lincoln Riley was able to get them open, and Caleb Williams was able to find them for big plays. Addison made his fellow receivers better and more productive.

Dorian Singer is in position to give USC the same set of benefits.

We talked about this with Mark Rogers at The Voice of College Football:

Dorian Singer points to Caleb Williams in explaining his decision to transfer to USC

Elite receiver Dorian Singer specifically mentioned Caleb Williams as a reason he came to #USC. Singer knows what’s up.

Former Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Dorian Singer, the Pac-12’s leading receiver, is set to transfer to USC, continuing a trend of top wideouts joining the Trojans.

Singer earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors this season, recording 1,105 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 66 receptions for Arizona. He his best game versus USC when he had seven receptions for 141 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in an Oct. 29 loss to USC, which included a career-long 73-yard reception.

The 6-foot-1, 180 pound incoming junior said one of the appeals of playing at USC is having Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams as his quarterback.

“He’s a playmaker and is great at getting the ball to his playmakers,” Singer said.

Singer is an electric talent. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound transfer should immediately become a top receiving option for Williams and the USC offense regardless of how the rest of the portal period goes.

The first NCAA transfer window, which is new this year, opened on Mon., Dec. 5, and will remain so through Jan. 18, 2023.

Trojan fans rejoice after Arizona star WR Dorian Singer transfers to USC

The #USC Trojans landed Arizona transfer WR Dorian Singer, and the reactions came pouring in after Lincoln Riley pulled in the Pac-12’s leading receiver.

The USC Trojans landed Pittsburgh transfer receiver Jordan Addison — who won the Biletnikoff Award — last offseason.

This year, Lincoln Riley has landed another top-tier wide receiver in Arizona transfer Dorian Singer. Singer led the Pac-12 in receiving yards in his second season with the Wildcats and chose the Trojans over a number of programs.

Singer will instantly become a top target for Heisman Trophy-winning QB Caleb Williams, and with Addison headed to the NFL in 2023, Singer will see plenty of opportunities to put up numbers for a top team in the county.

The reactions came pouring in, and from current USC players to alums to fans, everybody is excited for Singer’s addition:

Arizona standout WR Dorian Singer heads to USC; Trojans find their Jordan Addison replacement

Arizona star WR Dorian Singer torched the Trojans on Oct. 29. Lincoln Riley now has Singer on his roster and will design plays for him in 2023. Good luck, #Pac12 defenses.

The USC Trojans continue to steal talent away from the Pac-12 on the recruiting front.

Last week, it was Arizona DL Kyon Barrs who came to Los Angeles, offering a big-time boost to the Trojans’ defensive line.

On Monday, Arizona transfer receiver Dorian Singer announced his decision to head to the USC Trojans and play with Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and head coach Lincoln Riley. Singer posted a picture on his Twitter account, confirming what is a massive get for the Trojans.

With Jordan Addison heading for the NFL draft, the Trojans wasted no time in landing another top-end wide receiver to give Williams and the offense in 2023 as they push for a College Football Playoff spot. We could compare Addison and Singer in various ways, and maybe some people would say that Addison is actually better, but that’s frankly beside the point. Singer is genuinely an elite receiver with top-tier playmaking ability. If there is any gap between him and Addison in terms of quality, it certainly isn’t very much. Singer will be a total headache for opposing Pac-12 secondaries next season. Lincoln Riley getting to design plays for him will be a funhouse experience for the USC coach. Fans are going to get some popcorn moments on the field, much as Jordan Addison delivered this past season.

The sophomore led the Wildcats in yards with 1,105 receiving yards on 66 catches and six touchdowns. One of his best games of the year came against USC, in which he had seven grabs for 141 yards and three scores. This is also the third Arizona transfer to head to USC in the past week.

Singer is an electric talent. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound transfer should immediately become a top receiving option for Williams and the USC offense regardless of how the rest of the portal period goes.

The transfer portal is heating up, and after an 11-2 season and a trip to the Cotton Bowl, the Trojans are once again a popular option for some of the best players in the country.

Oklahoma offers Arizona transfer Dorian Singer

Oklahoma continues to look for dynamic playmakers at wide receiver as they offered former Arizona WR Dorian Singer. From @thatmanbryant

Oklahoma continues to attack the portal hard having already sent out offers to other players like LA Tech transfer Tre Harris or Indiana transfer Dasan McCullough.

They haven’t let up and also reached out to former Arizona transfer wide receiver Dorian Singer. Singer led the Pac-12 in receiving yards this season and has two more years of eligibility remaining. He had a solid season as a freshman in 2021, catching 18 total passes for 301 yards. He leveled up this season with 66 receptions for 1,105 yards and six touchdowns.

He posted four games with 100 or more yards receiving, including a nine-catch, 175-yard, and one-touchdown performance against Washington State. He went for three touchdowns, 141 yards receiving on seven catches later in the year against the Pac-12 runner-up, the USC Trojans.

Singer is a perfect example of recruiting rankings not always being a perfect example as well.

Nothing about Singer’s high school recruiting profile suggested this level of production was possible.

Coming out of Pinnacle High School, Singer was ranked 1,030th ranked nationally, No. 147 at wide receiver, and the No. 18 ranked player in the state of Arizona.

If the name Pinnacle rings a bell, it’s because it was the school in which former Sooner quarterback Spencer Rattler hailed from.

Singer has offers from Arizona’s Pac-12 rivals Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado and Utah. Oklahoma will have serious competition from Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Penn State as well.

Several Oklahoma targets rank among ESPN’s best transfer portal players

Where did Oklahoma’s transfer targets rank among ESPN’s best in the transfer portal?

Retooling through the transfer portal has become an important part of roster turnover for every football team in America. In large part due to the portal, but also because of graduation and NFL draft losses, it’s become imperative to attack the portal looking for talent.

In Brent Venables first offseason, the Sooners added difference makers Dillon Gabriel, Jeffery Johnson, Jonah La’ulu, and C.J. Coldon. They’ll hope to do it again this offseason with needs at nearly every position group on the depth chart.

The Sooners have been active, extending offers to wide receivers, tight ends, and defensive linemen. It remains to be seen who will be Sooners this spring, but several of their targets appeared on ESPN’s ranking of the top transfer portal players. Let’s take a look at what Tom VanHaaren of ESPN had to say about each Oklahoma target (ESPN+) and where they rank on his list.

USC transfer tracker — Trojans get elite receiver Dorian Singer, continue to grab Pac-12 transfers

The Trojans have secured a top-end receiver for 2023. Ralen Goforth will play for Washington. That and more in this updated #USC transfer tracker for Dec. 19.

Welcome to one of the most important weeks in college football: It’s the start of the transfer portal for the 2022-2023 offseason cycle. Buckle up. It’s going to be a wild ride.

College football now has its own equivalent of pro sports free agency. Players look at their own situations and come to the conclusion that for various reasons — playing time for some, coaching fit for others, winning games for others — it’s best to pack up and go somewhere else.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday. Over 1,000 players have already entered or at least expressed an intent to enter the portal. We have our national transfer tracker to keep tabs on a lot of notable names.

Here, we present our USC transfer tracker. Right now, it has players headed out, but soon enough, we’ll be able to add new players coming in to play for Lincoln Riley in 2023.

We’ll update and refresh the list below as needed:

Arizona WR Dorian Singer hauled in an incredible, one-handed catch against USC

What. A. Catch.

Arizona sophomore wide receiver Dorian Singer should hold onto this ball as a keepsake after the catch he made Saturday in Tucson.

On a long route, Wildcats sophomore quarterback Jayden de Laura threw a bomb to Singer. He made a beautiful, one-handed catch while being covered by a USC defender for a touchdown.

The impressive haul got Arizona on the board for its first score of the day.

To make a contested catch in the end zone is impressive enough, much less one with only one hand. Singer’s ability to find the ball also deserves a lot of praise. It’s just a heck of a play.

Singer’s touchdown is bound to be one of the best catches of the year, on a day where Georgia sophomore tight end Brock Bowers also made a stellar, bobbled catch for a touchdown.

Singer entered Saturday’s game with 605 yards and two touchdowns for Arizona this season. If he keeps making catches like this, he’ll keep getting plenty of looks in the Wildcats offense for the rest of the season and beyond.
