Watch: Rutgers Football Kickoff Special airs on MSG Networks

The Rutgers Football Kickoff Special is now available online to wach.

The Rutgers Football Kickoff Special began airing on the MSG Networks starting last week, giving Rutgers football an important platform in New York City ahead of the season opener next Sunday.

The 30-minute special on MSG offered a glimpse into the people and personalities on this Rutgers football team, now in its fourth season under head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag]. MSG Network’s Anthony Fucilli had a sitdown interview with Schiano to start the show, providing an outlook for this important season.

In addition, there was an entertaining cold tub special with Aaron Lewis, whose gregarious personality was the buzz of last month’s Big Ten Media Days.

Fooch, who is a sidelines reporter for Rutgers, also had interviews with several key players on the team including tight end Johnny Langan and linebacker Tyreem Powell among others.

There was also an interesting segment with George Nikola, who is the head chef of Rutgers football.

The entire show is narrated by Dom Savino.

Must See Greg: MSG set to broadcast a variety of Rutgers football programming

MSG set to broadcast Rutgers football content this fall.

Rutgers football announced a new partnership with MSG Networks, providing another important anchor into what is a growing presence in New York City.

Being on MSG is another layer of Rutgers tapping into the New York City market. On Friday, the Rutgers Football Kickoff Special aired on MSG. The voice work for the show was provided by Dom Savino, the sultry smooth voice of Rutgers athletics.

At the center of the kickoff special was an interview with head coach Greg Schiano.

The show will be played repeatedly on MSG throughout this week ahead of Sunday’s opener against Northwestern.

The first Regional Sports Network (RSN) ever created, MSG is part of the “nation’s number one media market, the New York DMA, as well as other portions of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, each year the networks collectively telecast approximately 400 live professional games and feature a compelling lineup of critically acclaimed original programming.”

The deal with MSG is part of Rutgers continued push into New York City. Last year, Rutgers men’s basketball played (and won) at Madison Square Garden in a Big Ten game against Michigan State.

Football is also recruiting New York heavily, having created quite the pipeline to Erasmus Hall over the years and now doing a strong job of getting talent from Long Island as well.
