While I usually don’t bet on big favorites, I’m willing to risk it here because of Scherzer.

The Dodgers are 9-0 in all nine of his starts since the three-time Cy Young winner joined the club in a July 30 trade. He leads the majors with a 2.08 ERA and is on a personal 11-game winning streak, dating back to June 4 when he was still with the Washington Nationals.

While we won with the Rockies ATS play Wednesday – backing them due to their impressive ATS trends, including an MLB-best 47-27 home ATS mark – I can’t suggest that route and go against “Mad Max” here.

First, BET DODGERS -2.5 (-120) to WIN a QUARTER UNIT.

Second, BET the alternate line of DODGERS -1.5 (-170) to WIN a QUARTER UNIT, basically making L.A. the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager.

Senzatela is by no means dominant but he does an excellent job of keeping the ball in the park and limiting free passes. He has a respectable 3.89 ERA over 13 home starts, typically works pretty deep into games, and has allowed more than 3 ER just once in his last 12 starts.

Senzatela is likely to avoid disaster Tuesday and keep his team in the game. The ROCKIES +2.5 (-120) should stay close enough to cash on this run line bet.

Over/Under (O/U)

Neither starting pitcher is likely to completely shut down the opposition, but both should be able to limit the damage, even in a tough environment. The Dodgers are good but not elite vs RHP (7th in wRC+) and the under is actually 34-16-6 in their last 56 games vs. a right-hander.

Meanwhile, the under is 7-2 in Colorado’s last nine against a lefty, and they’re facing a tough one today. The final score will probably end up very close to the total, but UNDER 10.5 (+100) looks like the side to take.

BET the ROCKIES +0.5 (+105) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit because of Gray’s aforementioned home splits, and I am not sure what we are getting out of Price Sunday.

Furthermore, Gray could be a little more dialed in for this start because he’s going to be a free agent this offseason, and this could be an audition for a contender at the trade deadline July 30.

Moreover, L.A.’s lineup could be easier for Gray to maneuver around because Dodgers RF Mookie Betts isn’t in the projected starting lineup since he left Saturday’s Dodgers-Rockies game right hip irritation.

Also, Price won the 2012 American League Cy Young as a starter, but he has been used mostly as an “opener” for an L.A. “bullpen day” this season. He’s only averaging 1 1/3 innings pitched per appearance and has 20 bullpen outings to just four starts this year.

The reason for betting the ROCKIES +0.5 (+105) FIRST 5 INNINGS instead of the full game is pretty obvious, but the Dodgers own the Rockies. So they’ll probably steal this game from Colorado’s terrible bullpen.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 6.5 (-110) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a half unit because of Gray’s home splits and L.A.’s lineup possibly being without Betts.
