NFL Insider shares tension between Mac Jones and Bill Belichick

NFL Insider shares some of the differences between Mac Jones and Bill Belichick

It wasn’t much of a secret that Mac Jones was frustrated with the New England Patriots for the majority of his second year in the NFL. Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick, brought in Matt Patricia to run the Patriots’ offense in 2022 and it didn’t turn out well.

On the field, the offense was a mess and Jones showed signs of frustration throughout the entire year. At times Jones was seen yelling at coaches on the sidelines and confronting teammates.

Some coaches around the league viewed Jones’ antics and behavior as a young player who is passionate about the game, but that is apparently not how it was received by Belichick per NFL Insider Albert Breer.

During an appearance with “Zolak and Bertrand” via NBC Sports Boston Breer said, “I don’t think Bill appreciated the way that Mac handled some of the stuff last year. There’s a way that I think Bill thinks a franchise quarterback should conduct himself. And for the most part, [Tom] Brady did conduct himself that way. I think there were certain things in the way that Mac handled his second year as a pro that Bill didn’t appreciate.”

With the Bills, Dolphins and Jets each improving, the Patriots are going to have to make significant changes if they want to compete for Super Bowl titles in the near future. The first step for Belichick and the Patriots will be making sure that the former Crimson Tide signal caller is the guy.
