Wisconsin hoping to add two new players to 2020 class on Signing Day

There could be some drama for Wisconsin tomorrow, as they are looking to land signatures from top targets Kaden Johnson and Devin Chandler.

To this point in the Paul Chryst era, Wisconsin fans have grown accustomed to expecting little to no drama on the first day of the Early Signing Period, when the vast majority of college football recruits choose to sign their National Letters of Intent. Most years, the Badgers have had their classes filled up well before that date and are no longer waiting on decisions from additional prospects on their board of targets.

That’s mostly the case this year as well, as Wisconsin is set to sign all 17 of its current commits tomorrow in a 2020 class that is considered nearly full.

The keyword there is “nearly”, as the Badgers are still after a handful of recruits at the moment.

While their two 4-star running back targets, Kevontre Bradford (Lancaster, Texas) and Jalen Berger (Ramsey, N.J.) won’t be signing until February’s National Signing Day, they are hoping to land signatures from two additional prospects tomorrow morning.

First up is Minneapolis, Minn. (Minnehaha Academy) 4-star outside linebacker Kaden Johnson, who will be announcing his decision at 7:45 a.m. CT.

Wisconsin has been all over Johnson throughout just about the entirety of his recruitment. From start to finish, he has been one of the staff’s highest priorities in this class, despite the Badgers expecting to already sign four other players listed as outside linebackers by the recruiting services.

Bucky has long been one of the top contenders for Johnson’s services, as have schools such as Nebraska, Oregon State, LSU and Minnesota. However, the Huskers appear to have emerged as the favorite here at the end of his recruitment, and the best bet right now is probably on him heading to Lincoln.

That being said, it would probably be ill-advised to count Wisconsin out just yet. Johnson’s recruitment has been an interesting one to follow, to say the least, as it has often been tough to put a finger on exactly what way he has been leaning at different points in time. However, the Badgers have been right up there at the top throughout it all, and if they don’t win out, they’ll likely finish in a close second.

Wisconsin fans should also make sure to keep an eye out for Cornelius, N.C. (William Amos Hough) wide receiver Devin Chandler’s decision tomorrow morning, which is scheduled to come shortly after Johnson’s, around 8:00 a.m. CT.

The 3-star prospect was a very late addition to Wisconsin’s board, as the Badgers didn’t offer until Nov. 23. The staff worked fast to get him on campus for a visit last week.

Chandler will be deciding between Wisconsin, Virginia and Maryland tomorrow. As of now, it would be a bit of a surprise if he didn’t choose to stay out east.
