Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (15-42) and Toronto Raptors (26-31) meet Sunday at Scotiabank Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Pistons vs. Raptors odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Pistons covered the spread as 6-point home favorites Friday with a 138-131 double overtime win vs. the San Antonio Spurs. F Bojan Bogdanovic scored a game-high 32 points for the Pistons, who erased a 4-point deficit in the final 18 seconds of the 1st overtime to force double OT. Detroit is 0-7 against the spread (ATS) in its last 7 games after a win.

The Raptors failed to cover as 8.5-point home favorites Friday in a 122-116 loss vs. the Utah Jazz. Toronto led by as many as 14 in the 2nd half, but was outscored 39-20 in the 4th quarter. The Raptors are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. teams with a road winning percentage under .400.

This is the 2nd meeting this season between the Pistons and Raptors. In the Nov. 14 meeting, Detroit covered as a 4.5-point home underdog in a 115-111 loss as the Over 217.5 total cashed.

Pistons at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 127, Pistons 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Raptors (-575) should win, but there is no need to risk almost 6 times your potential profit on the moneyline when Toronto should win by margin. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -11.5 (-105).

Detroit coach Dwane Casey is 7-0 ATS vs. his former team in the last 7 meetings, but he may have lost his edge over his former assistant and current Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

The Pistons got somewhat lucky in the most recent meeting and needed G Jaden Ivey to hit a 3-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining to cover against a Raptors team that was missing its 3 leading scorers in F Pascal Siakam, G Fred VanVleet and G Gary Trent Jr.

With the Raptors almost at full strength Sunday and extra focused coming off a bad loss, the Pistons should struggle to keep it close and will be due for a letdown after an improbable comeback win in double overtime on Friday.

Over/Under

BET OVER 227.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-1 in Detroit’s last 5 games vs. teams with a losing record and 5-2 in Toronto’s last 7 after a loss. The Over has hit in 7 of Toronto’s last 10 games vs. teams with a winning percentage below .400 and is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these teams.

Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (7-7) and Detroit Pistons (3-11) meet Monday at Little Caesars Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Pistons odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors dropped to 0-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last 4 games after failing to cover as 2.5-point underdogs in a 118-104 loss at the Indiana Pacers Saturday. Toronto was without All-Stars G Fred VanVleet (illness) and F/C Pascal Siakam (groin).

The Raptors are 0-6 ATS vs. the Pistons in the last 6 meetings.

Detroit almost covered the spread as 8.5-point home underdogs in a 117-108 loss vs. the Boston Celtics Saturday. Rookie G Jaden Ivey scored a season-high 26 points in the absence of former 1st-overall pick G Cade Cunningham (shin).

The Pistons are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games.

Raptors at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 106, Raptors 105

Moneyline

Sprinkle on PISTONS (+150).

Pistons (and former Raptors) coach Dwane Casey has won 6 consecutive games vs. Toronto. Since being fired after winning NBA Coach of the Year in 2018, Casey is 9-3 straight up vs. former assistant and current Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

Against the spread

BET PISTONS +4.5 (-112).

This is my best bet for this matchup. Detroit has dominated the Raptors since it hired Casey and the absence of Siakam and VanVleet does not help Toronto. While Cunningham is out for Detroit, Ivey and G Killian Hayes seem to be capable of making up for his absence in the short term (combined for 41 points vs. Boston). Take the points.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 220.5 (-110).

The Raptors scored just 39 points in the 2nd half at Indiana. Toronto should continue to struggle to put up points with its top 3 scorers (Siakam, VanVleet, Trent) out Monday. The Under has hit in the last 2 head-to-head meetings and I expect another low-scoring game.

Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (17-17) host the Detroit Pistons (9-25) Wednesday at their 2020-21 season home of Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Pistons-Raptors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed back due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Raptors that leaves them severely undermanned for Wednesday’s game.

The Raptors also had Sunday’s scheduled game against the Chicago Bulls postponed until a later date. They had won five of their previous seven games with the most recent being a 122-111 drubbing of the hapless Houston Rockets Friday.

The Pistons come into Wednesday’s game severely shorthanded due to injuries. They have lost three straight games, including a 109-90 loss to the New York Knicks Sunday.

Pistons at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 106, Pistons 94

Money line (ML)

Well, this will be ugly. The Raptors will be without three of their top five scorers and three of their top six rebounders. The Pistons are also likely to be without three of their top four scorers and three of their top five rebounders.

Detroit is somewhat tempting at +195 in a game where Toronto will be handing significant playing time to G-Leaguers, but unless Grant is able to suit up, it’s tough to envision the Pistons putting up enough points to pose a threat.

PASS and bet the spread, where there’s proper value on the Raptors.

Against the spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS -6.5 (-110) are the better and more talented team. Gs Kyle Lowry and Norman Powell will lead the way, and Sixth Man of the Year contender Chris Boucher can take on a larger role inside.

The Pistons have dropped six of their last seven games and are more adjusted to the depleted lineup as they work to trade Griffin before the trade deadline.

Over/Under (O/U)

Hammer the UNDER 211.5 (-110) even with the line dropping through Wednesday morning.

The Pistons have been held below 100 points in three of their last seven games. The Raptors hit the Over in each of their last two games but had previously played to four consecutive Unders and will have no trouble against this Pistons offense. Toronto’s offense is hit harder by the COVID absences than the defense.
