Destiny 2: The Witch Queen gets a 13-minute video preview

Space wizards galore.

It’s looking like The Witch Queen  might be Destiny 2’s  boldest expansion ever, at least if this new extensive video preview is any indication.

Even though the expansion is still a  couple of weeks from release, Bungie was gracious enough to bestow guardians with an in-depth look at what’s to come. Some highlights include campaign details, crafting specifics, the new Legendary difficulty, and the wildly exciting revelation that Season of the Risen is launching alongside the expansion. There’s also a grand total of eight new exotics launching with The Witch Queen. So yeah, this is a meaty update to be sure.

Anyone chomping at the bit for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen  should kick back, relax, and watch the entire 13-minute presentation below. Remember, if you’re at work, keep one earbud out to hear anyone coming. Don’t get caught slacking off now!

Bungie isn’t slowing down one bit despite the recent  acquisition by Sony. In fact, there’s a good chance Bungie will be making  even more live service titles  now, especially since PlayStation head Hermen Hulst thinks so highly of  Bungie’s expertise  with the genre. Time will tell how that all shakes out, though. Imagine if Bungie somehow ended up making another Killzone. (This won’t happen, but it’s fun to dream about)

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen  is coming out on Feb. 22 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC via Steam.

Bungie finally details crafting in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

The feature will introduce deep weapon customization.

After countless teases and glimpses, Bungie, which is  enjoying a momentous week, is finally talking about what weapon crafting will look like when it arrives in the Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen  expansion later this month.

In their latest ‘This Week at Bungie’ post, Bungie talks about their much-touted (and demanded) system ahead of its highly-anticipated release. Like all things Destiny 2  related, it’s a bit more involved than you might initially believe.

When The Witch Queen  launches, Destiny 2 players will be able to play the first two missions without owning the expansion. In these first two missions, players will be guided to a place called the Enclave, which acts like a forge and is where they will be able to craft legendary weapons and be prompted to make their first glaive, a new melee weapon type coming in the forthcoming expansion.

Crafting looks to be a multi-step process, beginning with finding ‘patterns’ or blueprints that will drop “through quest completions, while others can be earned by completing various gameplay objectives,” after which players hunt down the materials for them and craft the weapons. Once players make this first glaive, legendary weapons will drop with a new ability called Deepsight Resonance. This ability will ask players to complete objectives with the weapons in hand and, upon completion, allow them to extract perks from these to mix and match with most of their crafted armory.

Players will be able to level up their crafted weapons by using them in activities and Bungie is also allowing them to ‘reshape’ whatever they make even after they’ve crafted it, allowing for customization at all times.

Bungie also teases the introduction of ‘mementos,’ another way to customize a weapon’s appearance rather than its traits and parts, and says that “more of these will come online” through specific activities like Trials of Osiris and be rolled out “down the line.” While they don’t mention much about crafting Exotic weapons, the highest tier of gear in Destiny 2, Bungie does say that this will focus more on “fine-tuning something with a defined identity,” rather than building a weapon from scratch.

Bungie was recently acquired by Sony and while Destiny 2  and their future games will remain multiplatform, the studio is expected to bring their expertise to help grow  PlayStation’s live service offerings. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen launches on Feb. 22, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

New Destiny 2: The Witch Queen trailer highlights parasite-flinging grenade launchers

The looter shooter king adds crafting in its next expansion.

Crafting is one of several new features in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, and Bungie gave us a peek at how it works.

With Destiny 2’s next big expansion mere weeks away, Bungie released a new teaser trailer that shows fans how crafting will work in The Witch Queen. Savathun, the queen herself, goes on about a relic, which is the forge that players can use for crafting.

The video then goes on to list some craftable exotics, such as:

  • Grand Overture — Slug launcher charges full auto missiles
  • Parasite — Worm launcher with increasing damage
  • Osteo Striga  — Swarming projectiles trigger a toxic burst
  • Edge of Action — Place protective shield
  • Edge of Intent  — Deploy healing turret
  • Edge of Concurrence  — Tracking chain lightning
  • Hoarfrost-Z — Stasis wall replaces Barricade
  • Osmiomancy  — Additional Coldsnap with enhanced seeking
  • Blight Ranger — Reflected projectiles deal increased damage

New Destiny 2 trailer reveals the Witch Queen’s domain

Take heed, space wizards.

Aspiring astronauts that are particularly fond of looting and shooting will be happy to know that a new trailer for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen  came out Tuesday.

Savathûn’s Throne World, an oh-so-appropriate title for the trailer, goes a bit into what players can expect from the expansion. Savathûn seems none too thrilled that Guardians are poking her majesty’s neck of the woods, as every nook and cranny appears to be rife with danger. Not that we’d expect the abode of an evil space monster to be all that welcoming, mind you.

Check out the new Destiny 2: The Witch Queen  trailer for yourself below. There’s a high-resolution YouTube mirror available  here  as well.

Destiny 2  fans have ridden a steady wave of excitement ever since its cinematic trailer had its  debut at The Game Awards  last month. The most interesting addition to Bungie’s looter shooter as of late was undoubtedly the Halo-like battle rifle and pistol — a wonderful hat-tip to  the company’s 30th anniversary

Anyone jumping into Destiny 2  for the first time would do wise to check out our HunterTitan, and Warlock  class guides before setting out into Savathûn’s domain.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen trailer shown off during The Game Awards

The queen beckons.

It’s not long until Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is within the grasp of looter shooter fans everywhere. Lucky for them, Bungie released a new trailer for the expansion at The Game Awards!

Ask five different Destiny 2 fans what they think of the state of Bungie’s pseudo-MMOFPS and you’re bound to get five wildly conflicting opinions. Removing the Forsaken  expansion sure didn’t go over well with the community, though that’s ancient history at this point. It’s all about that Bungie 30th anniversary event by this point, baby.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen  has some lofty shoes to fill, that’s for sure. If the trailer below is any indication, though, the expansion will likely live up to expectations.

Well, Bungie sure isn’t lacking in the staggeringly beautiful-skyboxes department, eh? Now, if only we could get more Marathon  and Myth The Fallen Lords  references in Destiny 2  already.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is due out on Feb. 22, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia and PC via Steam. Pretty much every platform in existence except the Switch. Sorry, Nintendo fans.
