Tennessee junior defensive back enters the NCAA transfer portal.

Tennessee junior defensive back De’Shawn Rucker entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

“I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with two years remaining of eligibility,” Rucker announced.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Rucker appeared in 24 games for the Vols from 2021-23. He recorded 14 tackles, one pass deflection and one block.

Student-athletes can enter the NCAA transfer portal from Dec. 2 until Jan. 2, 2024. Players can also enter the NCAA transfer portal from April 15-30, 2024.

Warren Burrell (defensive back), Mo Clipper Jr. (offensive lineman), Mekhi Bigelow (linebacker), Jack Luttrell (defensive back), Brandon Turnage (defensive back), Connor Meadows (offensive lineman), Addison Nichols (offensive lineman), Tyler Baron (defensive lineman) and Doneiko Slaughter (defensive back) have also entered the NCAA transfer portal for Tennessee.

Countdown to the 2023 season: 28 days until it is football time in Tennessee

Tennessee will kick off its 2023 football season in 28 days.

Junior defensive back De’Shawn Rucker wears jersey No. 28 for the Vols. The 6-foot, 190-pound Rucker has appeared in 20 games at Tennessee from 2021-22, recording 13 tackles, one pass deflection and one block.

He came to Tennessee from Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Vols will kick off its 2023 season Sept. 2 versus Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is slated for noon EDT and ABC will televise the contest.

Tennessee’s home schedule has contests against Austin Peay, UTSA, South Carolina, Texas A&M, UConn, Georgia and Vanderbilt.

The Vols’ road schedule features games at Alabama, Florida, Kentucky and Missouri.

The 2023 season will be Tennessee’s third under head coach Josh Heupel.

Florida defensive back signs with Tennessee

Tennessee Vols’ football recruiting news.

The early signing period for the 2021 football recruiting class took place Dec. 16-18.

Following the conclusion of the early signing period, Tennessee announced it has secured another signee.

On Tuesday, the University of Tennessee announced that defensive back De’Shawn Rucker signed with the Vols during the early signing period. UT made the announcement on Rucker’s birthday.

Rucker committed to the Vols in May over Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Miami.

The 5-foot-11, 184-pound defensive back is from Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida.
