Will DeVonta Smith break Desean Jackson’s rookie record for receiving yards?

Devonta Smith is still on pace to break DeSean Jackson’s #FlyEaglesfly record for receiving yards by a rookie, but he’ll need to get even more involved on Sunday against the #Giants

Despite a few lackluster performances over the past few weeks from a statistical perspective, DeVonta Smith is still on track to break DeSean Jackson’s record for receiving yards by a rookie in a single season.

The former 2020 Heisman trophy winner has met the expectations this franchise hoisted upon him on draft night. The rookie needs just 172 yards to break Jackson’s record and before the Eagles win against the Washington Football team, the total needed was just 216 receiving yards.

The wide receiver wasn’t much involved in the Eagles’ game against Washington this past Tuesday, finishing with three receptions for 40 receiving yards —but Smith has made his presence known as the team’s primary option at wideout.

Making spectacular catches down the sideline, leaping for grabs over the league’s top defenders — one would almost mistake him for DeSean Jackson on the field at times.

So far this season, the “Slim Reaper”, as they like to call him, has totaled 53 receptions, 741 yards, and 4 touchdowns during a solid rookie showing.

Displaying flashes of his playmaking ability, the Eagles’ first-round draft pick has made a case to be known as one of the top young wideouts in the game.

Smith and the Eagles will look to seek revenge after the Giants escaped with a 13-7 win during the initial Week 12 matchup. Smith will most likely be matched up against James Bradley, the team’s No. 1 option at the corner position.
