Update on Vols’ target DeSean Bishop’s commitment announcement.

2023 running back prospect DeSean Bishop announced Tuesday he would make his college commitment Saturday at 5:30 p.m. EDT.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Bishop is from Karns High School in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Karns released a statement regarding Bishop’s commitment announcement.

“Due to transpiring events and some unavailability of friends and loved ones during the upcoming TSSAAdead period, DeSean has decided the timing isn’t right to make his commitment yet,” Karns announced. “We are excited and proud of his maturity in taking the time that he needs in choosing the school that is the right fir for him.”

Tennessee offered the 2023 prospect on June 6, 2021. Bishop was offered by the Vols following a performance during a football camp at UT.

Tennessee has 10 commitments for its 2023 recruiting class: Quarterback Nico Iamaleava Jr, tight end Ethan Davis, offensive lineman Ayden Bussell, defensive lineman Trevor Duncan, safety Jack Luttrell, edge rusher Nathan Robinson, wide receiver Nate Spillman, edge rusher Caleb Herring, safety Sylvester Smith and linebacker Will Stallings Jr.

Three 2023 Tennessee targets earn all-state honors

Trio of 2023 Tennessee targets earn all-state honors.

Three 2023 Tennessee football prospects have received recognition from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

The prospects were named to the TSWA’s Class 5A all-state team.

Powell High School (Powell, Tennessee) wide receivers Adarius Redmond and Ayden Green received all-state honors after leading the Panthers to its first-ever state championship.

Redmond has Southeastern Conference offers from the Vols, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

Greene, a two-sport athlete who also plays basketball, has offers from the Vols, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Tulane, Virginia and West Virginia.

Running back DeSean Bishop from Karns High School (Knoxville, Tennessee) was also named to the all-state team.

Bishop helped Karns host its first playoff game in school history.

He has offers from Tennessee, Austin Peay, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Michigan State, Tulane and Virginia Tech.

Tennessee 2023 running back target DeSean Bishop was recognized for an award Tuesday.

The Karns High School (Knoxville, Tennessee) prospect was named Class 5A Tennessee Titans Mr. Football in the state of Tennessee.

Bishop rushed for 3,179 yards and 34 touchdowns on 441 carries in 12 games during the 2021 season. He also recorded two touchdown passes, 19 receptions, two receiving touchdowns and 248 receiving yards.

Tennessee offered the 5-foot-10, 188-pound prospect on June 6. He was offered by the Vols following his performance during a football camp at UT.

Karns High School (Tennessee) junior running back DeSean Bishop became only the fifth running back to eclipse 3,000 rushing yards in a single season.

Karns lost to top-seeded Rhea County, 63-48, in the second round of the Tennessee Class 5A playoffs.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Bishop totaled six touchdowns in against Rhea County (four rushing, two receiving and one passing) as his 2021 season came to an end.

Bishop is from Karns High School in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In the contest, Bishop recorded a 70-yard touchdown run against Carter High School.

Tennessee offered Bishop on June 6. He was offered by the Vols following his performance during a football camp at UT.

Bishop has one other Power Five offer. Michigan State offered the 5-foot-10, 188-pound running back on Sept. 1.

Bishop is on the Class 5A Tennessee Titans Mr. Football watch list.

The 2023 prospect has totaled 1,809 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns in five games during the 2021 season.

He also has recorded eight receptions and two receiving touchdowns this season.

Tennessee 2023 football recruiting target DeSean Bishop recorded 350 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns on 49 attempts to lead Karns High School (Knoxville, Tennessee) to a 41-34 victory against Campbell County.

Bishop also totaled 20 return yards.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound running back is the leading rusher in Knoxville area high school football.

Through five games in 2021, Bishop has recorded 1,467 yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, eight receptions and two receiving touchdowns.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Bishop has amassed 1,117 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, eight receptions and two receiving touchdowns for Karns High School in Knoxville, Tennessee this season.

Karns opened its season with two consecutive victories, defeating Hardin Valley Academy, 21-7, and William Blount, 40-7.

Karns returns to Region 3-5A play Friday, traveling to Campbell County, after losing consecutive games to Powell and Tennessee High School.
