UFC on ESPN+ 36: Mackenzie Dern vs. Randa Markos odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 36 fight between Mackenzie Dern and Randa Markos, with MMA betting odds, picks, tips and bets.

In a women’s strawweight fight, Mackenzie Dern and Randa Markos go toe to toe at UFC on ESPN+ 36 Saturday at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. The prelims kick off at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+, followed by the main card set for 8 p.m. ET.

Dern (8-1) is coming off a submission win over Hannah Cifers last time out on May 30, winning in just 2:36 of the first round. Three of her four fights at the UFC level have been victories, with two finishing inside the distance. Dern is outstanding on the canvas, with two wins in the past three by way of submission, and five of her nine professional bouts ending via her opponent tapping out.

Markos (10-9-1), a.k.a. the “Quiet Storm”, is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Amanda Ribas on March 14 on the Lee-Oliveira card. She hasn’t lost back-to-back fights since losing the TUF 20 Semifinal and Final against Rose Namajunas and Jessica Penne back on Dec. 10-12, 2014.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:00 a.m. ET.

DERN (-176) is worth playing straight up on the 2-way line, as she should be able to push past the Canadian. In addition, playing DERN BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+120) at plus-money is an outstanding value, too. She is a submission machine, but playing Dern by submission (+138) only on the 7-way line doesn’t save you that much. Why not include the potential knockout, too?

In addition, playing UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-112) is a great investment, as this one is a good bet to finish inside the distance.
